1of2 Found Treasure in Southern California 2019 (Geocaching)

“Doing nothing often leads to the very best of something” – Winnie the Pooh from “Christopher Robin”
My husband I and wanted to enjoy the start of spring with a quiet trip to a special outdoor nature area. We headed out for a walk and were happily surprised to find a geocaching kit. So exciting! If you are unfamiliar, this is an outdoor treasure hunt that connects people to one another and to the outdoors. It’s a modern day scavenger hunt using cell phones. What fun! Years ago on a hike along a beach cliff line in Northern California, we found a similar hidden treasure with positive messages and poems. Check out the website on geocaching. I plan on signing up and finding more treasure!!
One book I’d recommend on this topic is called “Voices from the Fields” by Beth Atkin. It features the voices of various migrant children and their experiences of migrant life. Another eye-opener is “The Circuit” by Francisco Jimenez. It’s a well-written autobiographical accounting of his life as a child of migrant farm workers.
