We set out to a river in East Tennessee to do some prospecting. After a month of dialing in our sluice and perfecting our panning techniques, we get lucky and strike gold on our very first outing!
Gold has been found in telico and coker for decades. You guys are literally the last East Tennessee prospectors to find that out. LOL Come find gold in Northeast Tennessee and then I’ll be impressed.
i been having luck with black sands out of the clinch river , and also in the lower part of norris damn, on the bottom, first crook.

Probably Coker creek ,it was one of the highest gold producing rivers back in the day ,1800’s late 18’s

I found an East Tennessee bird band while metal detecting today! Canada Goose wore it according to USGS when I reported it. Google Bird band reporting and get a recognition certificate and learn about the age, location, and species of bird banded. New subscriber.
Where are you finding gold in TN? I live up in the northeast part of TN and have a creek near my house and I don’t think no one has ever panned there. The creek runs out of North Carolina. I have found alot of quartz rocks and thinking maybe there could be gold there but not sure.
I like that little manual sluice (forgive me if the terminology is wrong). What is the name of it? I’d like to try that sometime.
What do you think about useing a metal detector to find areas to dig do you think it would help for finding good material to run through a pan or sluice box
I live in East Tennessee and have a very hard time finding gold. I am super glad to see that it is actually somewhere around. That looks alot like the river leading into Townsend and the Smokey mountains.
Is there any flathead catfish out that way in the tellico river?
