Lived here all my life. Spent my youth camping, hiking and floating the beautiful rivers of the Ozarks. Never seen anything crazy, but there’s definitely enough room for it. 50,000 square miles with some of the densest forests in the US

Is there more than 1 ?

We have old Indian mounds on a farm we rent. The fog doesn’t quite look right when in gets to those areas. I resented the term hillbilly growing up, but now its a badge of pride. Especially seeing people weirded out by what’s normal for me now. I’ve seen mountain lions, bears, and several other types of wild animals. I have never seen momo though.

  6. Jayron Soliman on January 25, 2023 at 9:21 am

Black panter but in cat mode

  7. Randy on January 25, 2023 at 9:22 am

Actually if it sounds like a women’s scream it is a bobcat, panthers/mountain lions sound much different

I’ve lived in and around Ridgedale for over 20 years. I’ve been hanging out in the woods all over Taney county for over 20 years. I have never heard a single person mention anything about a sasquatch in the area. These witnesses were probably seeing black bears standing against trees or hanging on tree trunks. People out here spend so much time in the woods that if there were any creatures like a sasquatch there would absolutely have been undeniable evidence uncovered by now.

  9. Woman Springishchild on January 25, 2023 at 9:24 am

My family are pioneers of Taney Co, we have a family graveyard dating back to ca. 1820s. I was raised right at the MO/OK/KS border. The spook light is no joke! I see it every time I go out there. My mom used to take us out there as kids, and now I take mine. Crazy things happen out there; both places. It’s so rooted in, well, basically in sorrow. My family’s documentation State “Indian Territory” until OK became a state less than 120 yrs ago, and I’ve ALWAYS been told not to mess with “mountain folk” It’s not scary, but you have to be alert when you are in these areas for basic safety. And for the record, I’m very skeptical of everything. I mean, I’m from Missouri, so you gotta show me! 😉

  13. David Hoover on January 25, 2023 at 9:28 am

I am from south central Missouri. I never saw anything like it myself but I did have a few neighbors that claimed they had seen MoMo and had found footprints. Nobody in my area reported seeing or hearing the Ozark Howler, and yes there were plenty of ghost stories

  14. The Dutchman on January 25, 2023 at 9:30 am

Momo is a Squatch. They mean you no harm unless you mean them harm !

  24. Midnight Ventures on January 25, 2023 at 9:43 am

One of my favorite documentaries of an unknown hominid. I live in Northwest Arkansas. About 25 mins from the MO line. Another good one is from the Travel Channel around 1999 or so and is called Bigfootville. It can be found here on YouTube.

  25. Peter Irwin on January 25, 2023 at 9:43 am

    Fairy-tales.

  26. Anaconda on January 25, 2023 at 9:43 am

Randy is full of shit….why would you set up an elaborate trap and only use a parabolic microphone?? No video cameras??? I Call bullshit no his story!

  27. Daisy midgeley on January 25, 2023 at 9:45 am

Spook light could be a ufo

  28. Missouri Ozarks Music and Video on January 25, 2023 at 9:46 am

I’m one of the editors and the primary reason I went into video production was because I wanted to document the invisible footsteps I’d hear behind me in the forest. So I got a camcorder. So either I was imagining things or the mic would pick it up. Trail cameras work better. I need to add that we’ll create videos in music, comedy, fiction, Green and Blue Screens (Inside and Outside respectively). The documentaries of the mysteries of the Ozarks are real.

  29. peek a boo on January 25, 2023 at 9:47 am

Ba ba bo…Morse code? Very very very common of that time.

  30. Derek Clark on January 25, 2023 at 9:51 am

I have seen the lights, kinda like fireflies, but not, they got bigger, smaller..colors spinning, & fear, & the feeling of being watched, but it did not phase me much, interesting?

  31. Casey Johnson on January 25, 2023 at 9:53 am

Hey man me and a buddy of mine seen this creature you refer to as Momo in July of 2019 out in Strafford at his old house and have had many other encounters there at this place hit me back if you would like to know more

  32. Kathy Borthwick on January 25, 2023 at 9:53 am

These creature are Sacred and not animals!

  33. Oblivian on January 25, 2023 at 9:53 am

This is a pretty good and informative documentary. I’m still baffled why most of these kind of researchers go to all the trouble to set up their camp to lure Bigfoot, but they never cover the camp with trail cams. One guy even went to the effort to set up hidden parabolic equipment, but not cameras. Makes no sense…🤔🇨🇱

I grew up in Dover, Arkansas and went to the Dover Lights a few years ago for the first time and didn’t see anything. I’ve been a few times since then and all I see is a small faint dull light in the valley.

  35. Lucky the Lemur on January 25, 2023 at 9:55 am

Always makes me laugh when they say "mountains" 😄 hills at most. I live in Branson. PS: they made the Ozarks on the map way larger than it is

  36. Niphim Das Victara on January 25, 2023 at 9:55 am

I grew up in the mark twain national forest, but you’ll never know.

  37. Joseph Atnip on January 25, 2023 at 9:56 am

The Ozarks woods aren’t hiding anything but copperheads, ticks chiggers meth lads and people that started problems…. I know because I live there ….🤣you should rename this video "These are the kind of people that go camping get a little high and get paranoid and freak out and this is there story "

  38. The Vagabond Witch in the Woods on January 25, 2023 at 9:57 am

Has anyone reading comments ever seen the Oklahoma Spook Light up close and in person?? I just bought property in the Ozarks and I am ready to explore it!! (I have seen it and sort of played with it once, until it scared me back inside my vehicle.)

  39. Emma Avila on January 25, 2023 at 10:02 am

Thank God for night vision fear seems to be everywhere I’m so tired of fear

  40. prezzi528 on January 25, 2023 at 10:04 am

So, you heard a scream in the middle of the night in the Ozarks, and you grab your flashlight and went to investigate?

  41. Cat3r Grl on January 25, 2023 at 10:04 am

Old timers in the missouri Ozarks talk of a species of bear. smallish for a bear and has a golden colored fur.

  42. Steampunk Groove on January 25, 2023 at 10:06 am

by 9m8s I`ve discovered that we canNOT hear what you hear because they inserted spooky music …… and the sound that you just heard prior to my stopping the video {now} made me wonder if bears or other large animals hunt at night, since that sounded to me like a bear voice. Maybe it IS a "momo", but I`m switching channels because I can`t hear for the music.

  43. Sally on January 25, 2023 at 10:07 am

I know the Sifford family. Justin is actually a really good musician who plays shows in Branson but I just can’t get behind how excited they get to go kill innocent animals for fun. Part of that culture I just can’t stomach…

  44. Missouri Ozarks Music and Video on January 25, 2023 at 10:10 am

    So very cool.

  45. Lunamaria on January 25, 2023 at 10:11 am

I love a good Sasquatch documentary, but HATE seeing fools stomping through the forest at night, banging on trees and yelling Whoop.. Whoooop!.. WHOOOOOP WHOOOOOP WHOOOOOP WHOOOOOP!!!!!"…. Fools like you will NEVER see Sasquatch and make a mockery of thw serious Sasquatch searching community… Sasquatch is extremely intelligent and is only seen under 2 circumstances.. 1: A person and Sasquatch accidentally stumbles into into each others presence by a total accident, surprising the person and the Sasquatch.. Or 2: The Sasquatch makes its WELL presence known to intimidate you off their territory, like what happened to me father.

Some members of this paranormal elite team should be getting treatment for substance abuse instead of chasing ghosts.

  47. Leah Gary on January 25, 2023 at 10:12 am

The Missouri Spooklight is so definitely the Ozarks.

  48. Lucky the Lemur on January 25, 2023 at 10:13 am

Most folks in the Ozarks are so damn good at bullshitting and story telling you’ll never know if the stories real or not 😄 I mean, they have an entire forrest named after Mark Twain.

General Nathaniel Lyons last words were something like "Don’t worry, they couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn from that dist…" and than he was shot when he was saying ‘distance’. Wilson’s Creek is where Frank and Jessie James went AWOL.

Some of y’all from Southern Missouri and the Northern Arkansas Ozarks might be interested in ‘Ozark Magic and Folklore’ and other books by Ozark folklorist Vance Randolph. Some of it’s hilarious because he was getting fucked with and he just played along, like when farmers in Greene County told him something like it never rains on the second Tuesday of June in Greene County.

Brandon Westin from Arkansas from Ozarks Healing Traditions and the Ozark Folk Center State Park also has some interesting stuff on Ozarks folklore and magic. It’s derived from a mix of Hoodoo, hillbilly folk traditions and Pennsylvania Dutch Appalachians Pow Wow stuff, aka Braucherei. There is alot of weird Ozark folk stuff, like there were these guys called Power Doctors who were like christian based magic men who did Jesus/Bible based magic to "fight witchcraft" etc, pretty crazy stuff, there’s also the Yarb Doctors (Yarb = Herb) who are folk herbalists types. Most of the hillbilly folk stuff from The Salem Plateau, Springfield Plateau, Boston Mountains region has died out with most the last of the real hillbillies.

Another interesting group is the Ozark Society but that’s environmental/nature stuff and not folklore stuff. They put out an interesting book titled ‘Ozark Forest Forensics: The Science Behind the Scenery in our Regional Forests’ that y’all might find interesting also.

EPA Ecoregion 36 is Ouachita Mountains which is designated as the US Interior Highlands along with the Ozarks Plateaus in Ecoregion 37 (Arkansas Valley), 38 (Boston Mountains), 39 (Ozark Highlands). So everyone has a different opinion as to where the Ozarks start and stop but to the EPA Ouachita Mountains and the Ozark PlateauS (pleural) are different parts of the US Interior Highlands.

The geology of Salem Plateau is largely Ordovician and Mississippian period chert and limestones, St. Francois Mountains is Proterozoic, so really really old, pre Cambrian. The Boston Mountains are Paleozoic, the Ouachita orogeny was around the Pennsylvania period, so late Carboniferous, so not all that old compared to the Ordovician, Cambrian and Pre Cambrian. Alot of calcium carbonate rocks, Limestone and Dolomites that easily form caves, noone really knows how Dolomites are formed it’s called The Dolomite Problem.

But the world is 4.5 billion years old so even periods like Ordovician isn’t really that old compared to the earth itself. Through the Mesozoic the Gulf of Mexico went Northwest through Arkansas to the Missouri bootheel but before that in the Carboniferous it was a seaway and beforehand in the Ordovician, these are the cratonic sequences, Sauk and Kaskaskia largely effected the Ozarks. The 6 cratonic sequences are the Sauk, Tippecanoe, Kaskaskia, Absoroka, Zuni, Tejas. These are the 6 major times what is now North America was under a sea, so this causes deposition of calcium carbonate rocks, but the west coast was north and what would be the east of north America was slanted south, so like Laurentia before Pangea of the late Carboniferous. You can see the transgressions and regressions of the water in the order of the layering of limestones, sandstones etc, because it’s layered opposite in maritime transgressions than it is with maritime regressions.

You have to keep the story going if you want people to stay away from your towns
