I’ve been in north Idaho for 3 years. I came from New Jersey, outside of new York city where I lived for 37 years. I gave it a shot, but I absolutely hate living here.

I understand her feeling it’s tough to move after a life time I moved to SE WA and although I love the farming areas and local farmers many of the people here come from the science and engineering background so very dry humor and not real warm or inviting not all people but many ( I am full of personality and really friendly I’ve been here 12 years still ready to move ) Wa laws are getting worse by the minute they handle Covid very poorly lots of people with anxiety and mental health issues from all the fear mongering 😢can’t wait to move out of here

Every video that promotes idaho is made by a realtor who profits from people moving to Idaho.

They love to talk about all the wonderful things there is to do, property values and the natural beauty it has to offer.

They never speak of the lack of jobs to support the exorbitant and ever increasing housing prices. The extremely low minimum wage, High fuel and food prices etc.

  11. Joanne on April 16, 2023 at 8:01 pm

Six months seems to be a rather short period of time. There is bound to be a period of adjustment. When my brother and sister-in-law moved from Boston to New Hampshire, they took a long time to make friends, but it did happen and they developed a strong network of friends and colleagues. I think that you have to give it time. Also, if they moved in at the height of the pandemic (this video is a year old), they couldn’t possibly judge the area by what they saw. They were in the middle of a lockdown!

  12. Strangerthingsaresaid on April 16, 2023 at 8:03 pm

Idaho would be better if they didn’t allow democrats and liberals to move there.

  13. uncklebuck1 on April 16, 2023 at 8:04 pm

Yahoo go back to Cali or somewhere else!! Liberal! I am from Montana and because of Yellowstone the tv show! We are getting flooded with lgbtq barf!

I am Korean American, and believe that I had been born "anew" at 22 years old… I had a lot of weird life experiences that has to do with the supernatural, and was raised protestant. (I am interested in Eastern Orthodoxy now) After changing as I matured, I just feel like California doesn’t fit me anymore. Personally, I love being alone, so I am okay with not having any friends (though I try to be kind to the people that do show me kindness and I try not to give negativity or burden other people). I just really like quiet places in nature where I can be alone, eating healthy, and working out. I plan on doing a side business thing online where I can make a bit more money, and if I can get 1000 dollars per month doing that, I plan on moving to a country where that money can get me middle class status, but anyway, even if I do go to Idaho, I am just going to mind my own business and try not to change the state. Personally I want to go to a more pure and "classic" style of place, as I do want to marry a girl that was raised with the kinds of values those places provide someday…
I think a lot of Californians moving to Idaho, picked it because they have similar intentions like me, but maybe that’s not how it is in reality….

  20. Lady circlewoman3 on April 16, 2023 at 8:10 pm

If these people think that life is gonna be all rosy within SIX MONTHS of relocation is living a delusional life….doesn’t matter where they go….so good luck with that.

  21. Marv Watkins on April 16, 2023 at 8:13 pm

In late 2022 it’s the higher interest rates that is really killing Idaho’s growth, according to various media sources.

No professional sports teams. If you move to Idaho you better love college football and a mediocre college team because unless you want to drive all day to Seattle and have the money for gas, a hotel food, drink and the tickets while still being able to pay your rent and mortgage and get back to Idaho. College football is all you get. The bars and nightlife are nowhere near as crazy and good as you can get other places. You just better love the outdoors and nothing but the outdoors because that is all Idaho really has to offer at this point.

I had a few customers from California usually horrible customers, very intitled
I showed up to a customers address to discuss the new year .. and they where packing and moving (she) was visibly annoyed with me she said she could not take another winter like that last one ! I was elated .. but shocked at her reasons .. that’s the reason you are moving .. really? Some snow ?

Try SE area where peeps are cultish and winters are brutal. It was a dream 10 years ago because one could make ends meet and even acquire real estate on poor man’s wages. Not anymore.

  34. HollyeGee on April 16, 2023 at 8:37 pm

A realtor friend of ours told us that many out-of-staters move here, go thru winter and want out. Winters aren’t even that bad. So funny. The best story is one woman came to city hall asking what a good laundry service was. The answer, “uh, your washer and dryer.” Keep in mind we live in a town of 3500 way up on a mountain. Research people…it’s a thing!

  38. Dan Nelson on April 16, 2023 at 8:40 pm

Trouble is these day’s They banned all the good time people the day they decided there would be NO smoking in your favorite honky tonk bar…. There went the Merle Haggards , Willie Nelson , Lefty Frizzel, Buck Owens life of the party ppl. Now they just line dance to a song about a John Deere tractor that sounds nothing like country music. People have become WOKE offended snoots in most communities .

  39. Brian Maroevich on April 16, 2023 at 8:40 pm

    Please limit the rambling.

  40. Tim Ward on April 16, 2023 at 8:42 pm

Moving to a new city or state often teaches us more about ourselves and our own priorities than it does about the place itself. What we think we value may not always be what we value most. Sometimes, because something is lacking in our lives, we jump to the place that provides what is lacking only to discover that we had grossly overestimated its importance to us in relation to the big picture.

  41. erich on April 16, 2023 at 8:42 pm

Winter in Boise is not for everyone

  42. Minnie Baumeister on April 16, 2023 at 8:43 pm

I am new to Idaho but not Boise. I am in Pocatello. We moved here from California. I do feel lonely and isolated here. 😢. I don’t know how to meet friends. It is just me and my husband and he is content to sit and watch TV all day. My husband has family here and is the reason we moved.

After looking into Idaho, I am NOT going to move there. I grew up in the fast paced NYC, NJ area. I have lived at the Jersey shore & Pocono mountains too. The jersey shore is a great place to live & I meet new people all the time just in the supermarket. Very friendly & tons of stuff to do. If you dont make friends on the shore area, then its you. Very diverse crowd & have friends of all kinds.

“Better curriculum taught in schools” (as Idaho ranks at the bottom for education) lmfao.

  48. chris armon on April 16, 2023 at 8:50 pm

Wonder if anyone can give me some info. I’m really wanting to leave Cali. I live in the Pasadena area and I love it here but I can’t afford it. Is there manufacturing jobs and is there non degree job opportunities but a future at the same time ? If that makes sense.

As an Idahoan, Many native or long time resident of Idaho resent people who come from different lifestyles and move into Idaho and become disillusioned with the more conservative, family centered, church involved families which I feel, make up the majority of middle to upper middle class neighborhoods. Boise is NOT SFO, or LA, or, even, Monterrey. You need to honestly tell your clients, "You are NOT in Kansas any more, (or LA, or SFO!)" Oh yeah, stop selling out Idaho! You are one part in the greater problem of Boise going from 300,000 to 8oo,ooo, and our roads getting crowded with pushy drivers1 Idahoans LIKE to drive slow, so stop trying to drive us off the road, and sop that horrific honking
