  4. Nick Poverman on May 27, 2023 at 7:40 am

You said the Van Slyke Castle was built in the 1990s. WTF? You might want to do this over. You also pronounced Newark wrong.

  5. Andy Chencharik on May 27, 2023 at 7:41 am

    It’s pronounced Nork

  6. Rocketman 697 on May 27, 2023 at 7:45 am

You need to research the history and pronunciation of the places you’re talking about. Many errors.

  7. John Robinson on May 27, 2023 at 7:46 am

Slow down and take a breath, maybe pause between structure. Had to leave by fifth location.

  8. Tommy Tom on May 27, 2023 at 7:46 am

This fucking guy talks like the longest run-on sentence ever made

  9. John Hauck on May 27, 2023 at 7:50 am

Neat video! Some constructive criticisms: it’s pronounced "Wanna-kew" and the "Redding" railroad.

I knew Mercer Hospital would rank high. I was born there and grew up in that general area.
Coincidentally, I currently work for the healthcare system that took over Mercer Hospital, eventually selling it completely in 2013 as you correctly noted.
However, the new hospital that was built a couple years before was not in Hamilton. It was in Hopewell Township (basically Pennington NJ).
Neither is considered "far" from Trenton.
However, the new hospital is only accessible by car, and is directly off a highway. I don’t think you can even take public transportation to get there from Trenton.
Whereas the old Mercer Hospital was right in the middle of a residential area and used to see a lot of foot traffic. That was part of the reason why residents in that area complained about it closing.
Also Trenton had (and still has) two other hospitals within city limits, but Mercer always had a better reputation among them.
It was indeed an epic hospital, the only one many would go to when they had a choice.
Just some insight from a local.
    🙂

    FYI…pronounced Wah-nah-que

  12. Joe Anthony on May 27, 2023 at 7:54 am

    It’s wanaque and pronounced nork

  13. Amy on May 27, 2023 at 7:55 am

Wanaque is pronounced Wah-NAH-kee, not Wanock. Also, Reading is pronounced Redding, not Reeding. Also, Newark has the emphasis on the first syllable, not the second: NEWerk, not NewARK.

Dude you got a lot of the history about the Essex county hospital wrong . The city of Newark never owned any of it for starters and overbrook was a total different hospital located in Verona NJ. Overbrook was also know as the Essex County Sanatorium and also owned and operated by the County of Essex. It closed in the early 80’s and the patients were transferred to the remaining wards of the Essex County hospital center just below the hill. The hospital in Belleville was used for tb patients and once TB was no longer a threat it was used for geriatric citizens of Essex County until the early 90’s . Two totally different hospitals for different uses located on opposite sides of the county. The county still operates a smaller hospital in cedar grove which was built in the mid to late 2000’s. All the remaining property was either turned into county parkland or sold to developers for residential housing in 2017

I’ve been so many places in New Jersey. Makes me sad that so many are completely gone. My friends and I (back in our late teens & early 20’s- I’m 32 now) used to go everywhere. Been to some places you mentioned and others you haven’t. Would love to see a part 2!! 💚

  43. rebootNYC on May 27, 2023 at 8:28 am

  46. Sami Lisowski on May 27, 2023 at 8:31 am

Hinchcliff is actually undergoing a multi million dollar renovation, which is what that picture with the mayor was probably highlighting.
