Underwater photographer Deron Verbeck said he went diving on Friday off the Big Island’s Keahole Point when he thought he saw a school of ulua. But something was off because the size and shape made him think of a tiger shark…at first.

I feel like if he would have taken off swimming, and thrashing she would have come after him…but since he stayed as calm as possible, and stood his ground…she swam a little closer to see but he was boring…so she veered off and left. And plus like he said by that point if she wanted him it was over anyways at that point. I think sharks at times are like another animal…they want u to run so they can chase… Especially predators

I had the exact same thing happen to me in Carmel CA. I had a video camera and I think it heard the little motor. I never saw it, the others on the dive saw it come right up behind me then turn away.

I read somewhere that they eat along the California coast and then go to Hawaii to breed or have their pups. Which might be why there are more tiger shark attacks in that area then white sharks. Also, when an orca killed a white shark off the California coast, the tagged sharks went deep, half heading for Hawaii and half off the coast of Mexico. Interesting how they all seemed to get the message at the same time.
That shark has been petted by an American tourist. That is why it is friendly.
Been Spearfishing my whole life down here in New Zealand, had a few interesting encounters with them, I’m more concerned with the two-legged sharks I have to walk past and negotiate going down the foot path than these things.

Sad as dolphins are such good mammals. Orcas where are you to kill these sharks even though you just as deadly and kill dolphins too. Nature is cruel.
