Frozen in time: the historic Idaho-Maryland Gold Mine is ready to be explored at depth
In this interview, Ben Mossman, President, CEO, & Director of Rise Gold Corp, speaks with Natasha Frakes about how the company is preparing to start the first exploration project at the Idaho-Maryland Gold Mine since the 1950s. He explains how significant production never occurred on the property after the 1950s, but that it has a lot of opportunity to grow since it is located in a major gold district. It is also adjacent to the Empire mine, which produced around 6 million ounces of gold.
The mine resides on private land, and the USGS was not allowed to survey in the 1940s β any record of geologic or exploration information has never been released. Rise only recently attained the historical documents related to the property. They have digitized the historical documents, and the exploration potential looks promising. Lastly, Ben mentions how the company is now in a unique position to re-develop the mine since the private land on which it sits does not requires exploration drilling permits, allowing for work to begin sooner rather than later.
