Today on Arizona Horizon, we’ll discuss a water management lawsuit, an Arizona travelogue, and the work of American Gold Star Mothers.

American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. dates back to 1928 and was founded for mothers and families who’ve lost sons and daughters during their service in the military. The organization does volunteer work with veterans’ hospitals and provides emotional support for each other. Diane Brown, Central Arizona Chapter President joins us to discuss.

The Goldwater Institute has filed a lawsuit against the Arizona Department of Water Resources on behalf of the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona. The suit alleges the governor’s office and the Arizona Department of Water Resources enacted a water rule without going through the proper legislative channels. Last fall, the Arizona Department of Water Resources imposed a new rule that requires a 100-year groundwater supply across water management areas, not just at development sites. The Goldwater Institute’s legal team says the rule was allegedly imposed without legislative authorization or the required formal rulemaking process. Tom Buschatzke, director of Arizona Department of Water Resources, joins us to give his perspective. The Goldwater Institute spoke with us earlier this week.

In “Arizona Friend Trips: Stories from the Road,” Lisa Schnebly Heidinger and Julie Morrison invite readers to explore the state’s most cherished places through a blend of poetry, prose, and photography. From the iconic landmarks to hidden gems, each chapter of this captivating travelogue provides a rich tapestry of historical insight, personal anecdotes, and emotional reflections, painting a vivid portrait of Arizona’s diverse landscapes and vibrant culture.
