Thank you Lee! Wow lots of info. Now I am wondering if the story I have heard from a few locals is even true. Two that I have heard from about this "gold thief" stories match pretty good, so hard to tell.
I cant believe (well yes I can) how many old mines were out here. I knew there was a lot but wow what you listed was a lot. The place I found the silver dollar recently is very close to one that you listed. I been wanting to go there, but the land owner lives out of state. It’s in some woods very very close to where I found that coin. In fact, I was detecting on the old road that was there that went right by it in the old days. So tempting to just go in the woods, but I’m too paranoid. Don’t need no trouble πŸ™‚
Really appreciate all you put into this! Good info. Wish I had the nerve to ask for permission to some of these places. They are so close by.
I am going to have to do some searching on Mosby a little more. See if there is some more clues as to where this might have taken place πŸ™‚
Appreciate you doing this!! Now I have some searching to do lol
Hope all is well your way!
Take care, good luck and happy hunting.
    John
