Decoding "The Secret: A Treasure Hunt"
In 1982, a treasure hunt consisting of 12 unique puzzles was presented to the world. Nearly 40 years later, only 2 have been solved. Join me for a look into Byron Preiss’ “The Secret: A Treasure Hunt”

Yeah, but the thing is, it’s not that hard to come up with something too complex to solve. Anyone can disguise anything with vague language. That’s not remotely interesting to me.
It’s the search, not the solution…
Thanks to antifa , riot’s and BLM and the left..a lot has been torn up and changed.. statue’s torn down..
Are there any updates on the one in San Francisco? I read up on it at 4am and it’s now 8am and Im lost and confused now lol. Just read that someone had faked it and everything just went dead after that. I just wanted to know if anyone is still looking for it to this day?
My Dad just muttered, "Get A Job"
The explanation for the finding of the first key genuinely made me feel excited, this is a really cool concept. I wish I were half as creative as Mr. Byron
This might be my favourite video.
just ask Deep Thought
I did not start this video and expect to be brought right to my alma maters doorstep
So good! Thank you!
my geography teacher showed my class this a few years back and now i check every so often to see if theres anything new on this
It’s been easy. 👍
With you #loxchatterbox let’s bring back the secret.
I don’t know about you, but if I found a key/casque, I wouldn’t necessarily *tell* people. Not for a while, anyway.
Mark my words. I will make you have to update this video
Oh my god. This kind of thing is anxiety inducing lol
Im working on one of the hunts right now. I think I may have solved "stone walls door", but of course I cant reveal anything until I know if Im right or not.
Yummy
Well sh*t, if I had any treasure I’d be doing one of these right now, they look like a ton of fun.
just dug up the whole US 🤔
According to this description on Amazon, a third treasure was discovered the same year this video was made!
"THE SECRET: A TREASURE HUNT was published in 1982. The year before publication, the author and publisher Byron Preiss had traveled to 12 locations in the continental U.S. (and possibly Canada) to secretly bury a dozen ceramic casques. Each casque contained a small key that could be redeemed for one of 12 jewels Preiss kept in a safe deposit box in New York. The key to finding the casques was to match one of 12 paintings to one of 12 poetic verses, solve the resulting riddle, and start digging. Since 1982, only three of the 12 casques have been recovered. The first was located in Grant Park, Chicago, in 1984 by a group of students. The second was unearthed in 2004 in Cleveland by two members of the Quest4Treasure forum, and the third was found in Boston in 2019 by a father and his two children."
The forbidden boomer humor.
Who can I contact about Byron Priess
Really glad I watched this. When I was a kid I had art books called and Animalia and the 11th hour that must’ve been inspired by this
I have confirmed there is a key buried in Philadelphia PA. Keep u posted.
I’m in NY, might as well give the 12th key a go
The shapes of Illinois & Ohio are so approximate, you’d think most people would deplete their energy following up other states found in the same images…
I can solve puzzles
You forgot Welsh when talking about Celts.
HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT SAY BACKWARDS
*A true mystery. It’s so romantic*
The Masquarade was never solved…he was robbed, Kit Williams former Lover and new boyfriend scammed him out of it.
13 it’s over #cescru
Hourglass #loxchatterbox
This reminds me of the movie under the silver lake
That saying of someone being "ahead of their time" really applies to this man. His idea is genuinely genius but sadly came too soon. I hope one day the puzzles are solved.
I grew up reading that masquerade book, it was my mums, so mad
I hope one day all these keys will be found, but even if they aren’t, the legacy of this Secret will forever live in our hearts. Thank you for this amazing vídeo!
Me and my family are looking for the one in Florida and we think where close
They found the new or eans one in Armstrong park.

If I’m not mistaken Mr. Byron is a Freemason yes?
I know how I’m spending my summer
is there a discord where people talk about these?
My boyfriend just started looking into this for himself. I remembered your video about this (I’ve been around since your "Refbatch" video) and pulled it up to show him in hopes that it would help him in the search. Thank you so much for covering this!

I’m glad to see this video!!!!!!I’ve been obsessed with the secret.ive took a vacation to try this game out. But its wrote with madness and hope.the genie painting is set in Winston-Salem NC and all the landmarks are there and focuses on the old salem area the old salem coffee pot is this place to find it. The out line out the old salem coffee pot the bottom shadow of of the genie 👌 😍
I’ve been obsessed with these types of puzzles since my aunt gave me a Puzzle Island book when I was 10… It was too hard for me at the time. My mom figured it out but refused to give the answer. Right about my 13th birthday, I solved the book! (That was before the days where we had Google, and most didn’t have internet, let alone a cell phone that did such things!)
I love this so much i want ti check out this sub reddit
My son thinks I’ve lost It. I saw the Doco and was fascinated. This has really caught my interest, mainly because I admire people who can "solve" puzzles. I’m one of those who try but can’t get there. I also found the book Masquerade By Kit Williams. The art work is fascinating because it resonated with me. Ah! Ha! Terry Pratchett, Disc World. Can anyone help me. Who was the artist for The Secret and Masquerade? It’s intriguing, Yes?
