The peg leg story has always been a fascinating story!
Thank you for sharing these stories. They are part of American history of the South West.
Good story, thanks for the telling.
Years ago Desert Magazine ran a scam story about peg leg’s gold. They printed letters they had supposedly recieved from "the man who found peg leg’s gold." The letters would sporadically appear over the months and finally the author revealed the location. He stated that he had picked up all the gold on the surface and a metal detector would be required to find any remaining gold. He placed the location in the hills west of the Salton Sea. The letters were later revealed to be a hoax meant to boost the circulation of the magazine. An old timer told me it created quite a stir for awhile.
Good Story! Have a Goodnight! 😊
This has been located and mined out already. On Google Earth You can see a spiral road running up this hill. It is a third of three hills on the flat desert floor. The area around the hill has not been metal detected out! The trick to finding this location is you have to start your journey from Yuma, AZ. Then think "shortcut".
Hmmm…I think I’m going to take a walk in the desert. Maybe I’ll come upon the three, small hills!
I think there’s a recurring theme here no wonder the gold is black lol
Good evening hope you’re doing well. Thank you for the great stories. God bless.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lovin the stories, thank you❤❤
Heard this story told a little different but pretty much the same , thanks
