There’s probably loads of treasure on the off-limits beaches of Cape Canaveral, and even on the accessible beaches. Unfortunately, hunting for it is prohibited on Federal property. But we can at least imagine how much still lies beneath the beach sands and ocean water, just waiting for a hurricane to free it loose and wash it ashore. Cape Canaveral was a treacherous coast for early explorers and the colonial period, which earned it the name Cape of Currents, one of several names. Many shipwrecked on the coast of Cape Canaveral and found themselves fending off attacks from the local Native tribes. Unfortunately, because it’s federal land it’s forbidden to remove pieces of history if you’re lucky enough to stumble across a piece. Though there are plenty of stories of Brevard locals finding treasure on those beaches, especially before NASA arrived.

Since 5/2/2022, 12 miles offshore is the exclusion zone. Mel Fisher and all can look beyond that point.

If they would just for 1 week give everybody an opportunity to go find a shipwreck it would change tourism forever.
