I am an avid metal detectorist who loves to pan for gold. I own a gold pan, a blue bowl for fine gold recovery and a sluice. My son Daniel and my daughter Gabby help me find gold in the Adirondacks by Lake Placid.

I am a treasure hunter. So in addition to metal detecting, I go mudlarking at sites such as Dead Horse Bay. Think of mudlarking as metal detecting without a metal detector.

My most important series is called Becoming A Millionaire Metal Detecting. I am trying to monetize my favorite hobby in order to do it more in the future. In other words, we put the clad we find in the ground, affiliate earnings, and merchandise earnings in to the stock market and we invest it. This show started in January 2019.

I love to watch Gold Rush too, and I used to watch Gold Fever with Tom and Kia Massey too! At 1:10 into your last video when you were headed across the street to meet up with your buddies that was hilarious! 🙂
Wrong angle on the sluice dude .. your worse than the Hoffman’s!!
That’s a good thing you’re doing with the kids
Do you find any
Your a good father and teacher come to montana in the elkhorn mountains and you will find gold with the team you have now !
Works better if you use the classifier right in the water with a pan catch below it takes a little finesse!
Great video Merrill. I knew exactly where you were lol. Been going by there to go camping further up for over 20 years. Always wanted to do the river you were in just never had the time. My kids loved that swimming spot. Great job and thanks for sharing!!!

My brother lives in Sleepy Hollow, would love to look for stuff down by the Hudson. It’s beautiful there.
Nice Dad! ❤
Which part in ny
Awesome!
Waiting on part 2. Just watched this again. Daniel and Gabby are future You Tubers. 🙂 What a wonderful way to spend time with your family. I love these adventures. Lots of garnets, quartz and flour gold where I live. You’ll have to come to NH for a vacation with the family. Swift River is the big gold panning river but there are others 🙂
Cool video bro. What a lovely family activity and the place looked fantastic. 👍
I love lake placid! I go there all the time. And I’ve skated on mirror lake too in March this year
Gold in them there hills.
You have a beautiful family
Very surprised you didn’t do well at your first location with the metal detector, when I was a kid, that was the most popular swimming beaches in town. I would think there would be a lot of lost coins and rings there.
Can’t wait for part 2
You left us hanging with that cliffhanger
Super like 👍 Amigo
The sands up here is insanly heavy . we do have pgms despite what every official geologic survey says about the area . I am learning all the time. This area needs a long tom or equivalent. And a washing plant a highbanker wouldnt hurt either…or like a 4 stage gold cube with the tromel attachment.that would be awesome!. Adjustable legs are a must for sluices here too. I live in northeastern ny and have been practicing for when I get to the gold bearing districts…official gold bearing districts i should say. Lol. I have been finding a some rusty , decomposing quartz chunks from what looks lile a quartz vein. I need to locate it. It looks very promising . crevacing is also recommended. Mind the fish hooks though!

Sorry no gold to mention in NY But hey even a speck might be hope after all. The best part about the video is Family participation and that is the real gold in my Book. Thanks for sharing a wonderful day in the Adirondacks. TC HH AL

Haha…. looks like you guys are having lots of fun 🙂
First Olympic games in lake placid was 1932 and what you know the second one is in 1980 I only live about an hour and a half from lake placid in St Lawrence county New York near the Saint Lawrence River in a little city called ogdensburg
Dont want to be the only flake here lol. Whatta dad joke lol
I’m onto child support here 🙂 She did an excellent job. Brilliant video, my friend. You’re entertaining, fun and what great kids. Keep them away from the dreaded interweb gaming.
This is awesome; the whole family! I’m in capital region and just started getting into this kind of stuff. Have things coming in mail including paydirt to practice some at home because I’ve never even touched a pan yet lol do you know any good prospecting areas in the cap region?
Silver
Do you need a propecting license?
Cheers! I started gold panning a few months before metal detecting last year!
Great vid. Dying to take my kids out just like you did.
If you have time, check out gold sluicing the Rouge River Videos.
Pyrite or fools gold contains traces of gold wich it means you were close to the gold
Never use a magnet when black sand is wet, it will grab any gold that may be in it
Did you try anywhere else near Lake Placid or along your way there? Or just this one location only…
