Hawaii Big Island Adventures: White Road – Big Island's secret waterslide

White road is a favorite hike on the Big Island! This hike travels along a sketchy trail on the edge of a lush green canyon. The views from the top of the canyon are some of the best Hawaii has to offer! Winding its way along an aqueduct it eventually comes to a natural waterslide.

Everyone I know that goes to Hawaii just drives round the island and doesnt leave the beach.

Waste of a trip imo the beach is almost anywhere..

What I did different was I went through the tunnels instead around to reach the waterfall

My friends and I used to mountain bike that trail all the way to the backside of Waimea and then drop down into town via the far western cinder cone. After the big earthquakes in 96, several sections of the trail were gone and you couldn’t go that far anymore. I’ll have to see if anyone repaired them. We parked in town by the soccer fields and rode to White Rd from there. A big loop.
Not so sure I’d have the nerve to ride that narrow trail like that again with those 2k’ cliffs.

I fell of that bridge at 2:40 in the video when I was 11! I made it without a scratch! It was muddy just like the video!

Love the video, definitely looks like an epic hike. Is the hike on All Trails? I’m having a hard time finding it.

Not crickets, the noise you hear are from coqui frogs.

If you choose to float back, where does it spit you out? All the way at the end?

If you had gone through the tunnel at the top of the waterslide you’d have found another longer and more fun similar waterslide just outside the tunnel
