First! great job guys!
Thank you to everyone for watching!
Thanks for another great Video
A nice way to start the evening. Thanks.
The ceramic tube is electrical. The system is referred to as knob and tube. Wires were separately run from the fuse box to the outlets, switches and light fixtures. The ceramic knobs were generally nailed and the wire went between a round disk and the larger base item used to hold the single wire. When the wire went through a joist a ceramic tube the was used to protect the wire from the wood. Each conductor was separately threaded through it’s own set of these. Many insurance companies currently will not insure houses that still have this type of wiring as the insulation was not good enough to survive a century of use.
Thanks Tom, REALLY ENJOYED IT
Think the doctor’s prescribed the meds or did people do it themselves especially on the heart grip meds
Yay new video πππ
Well they all can’t be winners. Better luck next time
Any suggestions for a retired person wanting to look for hidden sights in the State of Georgia?β€
Some nice old stuff coming out of there. I enjoyed watching πβ
My home still has a number of those insulating tubes intact. I discovered accidentally that some of them were still hot while working on them last year.
Great video you do an amazing job always thanks for sharing

Those Tiny Bottles are Beautiful!!! What do you do with them? How do you find the Outhouse locations? Owners? My Trailer sits atop a Basement where an old Farmhouse used to be. Makes me wonder where the Outhouse was.. If I find it, your welcome to come dig any time
Nice bottles in this one. Different variety.
Even if I am about to fall asleep and I see 1 of your videos I will watch it
That was a wire insulator to keep the wire from touching the wood when going through framing
Nice job fellas. I’ll say it again, Tom your a frickin walking encyclopedia! Lol
Cool digs. Thanks from my hill top in. Sc
Great video, the more you watch, the more interesting you find them to be
Well it’s good to see you take care on all of the pits, and not just the really old ones. excellent work my friends
It’s an insulator, drill a hole on the wood and place the insulator in the hole and run your wire through the insulator, some such situation, fire or contacting other wires. Afriend.
Nice!
Great video guys π
That porcelain insulator is for the old knob and tube wiring in old houses. They would drill a hold through boards in the framework of the house and put these insulators in and run the wiring through them. You see that a lot and houses that were "electrified " long after they were built
And the hunt continues because not all prives have treasures.
I’m surprised with all the pits you dig, you rarely find any metal objects.
The ceramic tubes you found are electrical insulators.. used in what is called knob and tube.. an electrician with drill hole through the stud or choice and then insert that ceramic tube which we keep the electrical wires from touching the wood
Did I miss the big silver item?
