What is the best state to go in for the summer to beat the heat for a car dweller?

  4. @sue8033 on February 9, 2024 at 9:19 am

Does it get lonely seeing all those beautiful places by yourself? Does traveling get old after awhile? Linda you’re doing an amazing job, I’m just curious about how I could do it before longing for a home base kicks in

My nephew went to college there. I was only there for his graduation. Cute town.

You should see Natchitoches at Christmas. It is amazing. Fireworks by the river with decorations along the river. Big Christmas festival.

My RAV4 Toyota is rigged up to sleep in, and I have a nice tent. Love to camp. I can’t wait until I can get back out after a vaccine is out for the virus. Where do you park at night? I’m looking for suggestions.

  12. @maryjones9063 on February 9, 2024 at 9:29 am

You should see it during the Christmas season. It has been written up in several national magazines. You can’t imagine how beautiful it is with all the lights. The movie STEEL MAGNOLIA WITH DOLLY PARTON and SALLY FIELDS WAS FILMED HERE. THERE WERE OTHER YOU WOULD RECOGNIZE. If you have not seen it you need to. I am a transplant from Arkansas to Louisiana by way of the military and other adventures as a nurse. Glad you made it here. Thanks for sharingLinda.

I am binge watching your videos to prepare. At 14 years sober, I "settled" into a senior apartment. I could see my future–sitting in a small place that hardly gets any sun–until I am too old to drive😳. My lease is up next spring…leaving Ca and getting in touch with my gypsy DNA!

  17. @brenda9265 on February 9, 2024 at 9:37 am

So much to see! I would love to visit that town!
    Thank you, Linda!

  29. @southerngal7899 on February 9, 2024 at 9:50 am

I’ve missed a few videos but when I saw you had been in Louisiana, I could have cried. Hope you found a Natchitoches meat pie. It’s so beautiful in Natchitoches when they have fireworks over the Cane River.
I was probably one of the first ppl to want to meet you and just sit out and read the Bible. Doubt you remember because of so many comments. That seems like sooo long ago. I’m in Bossier City and it’s not as pretty as Natchitoches. Now, I’ll go catch up with some more videos. God bless you and safe travels. 🙏🙏❤️ (southetngal2139)

How do you sleep in the heat

  35. @bevr2164 on February 9, 2024 at 9:55 am

Yes, Beautiful town. We moved to Tyler, TX 1994. Our friends told us the best way to get a flavor of the South, was to visit Nak-I-dish. Woe meat pies, Christmas on the Cane river. Yes Steel Magnolias movie made there. Many antebellum homes there, hush puppies, alligator, Cane river is actually a 35 mile long lake. We fell in love…..♥️

  36. @suziedupree6016 on February 9, 2024 at 9:55 am

You were 45 min from where I live! I love Nachitoches! I graduated from NSU. Did you go to the old Mercantile? 2nd St is where Lasyones is, the home of the Meat Pie. Glad you enjoyed the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase!

  37. @DebbieDebcor1 on February 9, 2024 at 9:58 am

Really appreciate you showcasing places in my beloved Louisiana. Thanks so much.

  38. @cathyrichard2739 on February 9, 2024 at 9:58 am

Steel Magnolias was filmed here! I’ve been there a few times.. Really need to go during December! City is beautiful and really lit up with Christmas lights and awesome fireworks on river!!

  39. @Why-gf2iw on February 9, 2024 at 10:03 am

Hi Louisiana native here. Hope you enjoyed.

  40. @DebbieDebcor1 on February 9, 2024 at 10:03 am

The movie Steel Magnolias was shot in Natchitoches. They used to offer tours of the main house in the movie. It is right down the street from where you were. Dolly Parton had a quaint little shop on Front Street where you were. The meat pies are to die for. 👍🏼

When you live in your car, you are not homeless. You have a home., it is your car.

  45. @shiftintohigh5564 on February 9, 2024 at 10:05 am

Poverty Point. The mound builders. Nacodoches and Nachotoches were two Indian brothers that could not get along. The father, the head of the tribe sent them so many moons in opposite directions. That is how those to towns began as settlements. Nacogdoches, Tex is generally regarded as the oldest town in Tx. Both towns have universities.

  46. @teresaforsyth6185 on February 9, 2024 at 10:06 am

You haven’t mentioned how wearing a mask while in a public place has been for you? And, you haven’t mentioned closure of facilities throughout the country since March 2020. I’m interested. And, that beautiful iron work….wonder if any of it is historic? The park was probably put in as a federal Corp of Engineers project to prevent the town from flooding. And, just to show you I’m actually watching intently, this is dated July 9, 2020…my West Virginia tulips and daffodils had finished two- three months earlier. Were you really in Louisiana in July? Can you reply with your observations about travel during COVID?

  47. @lindawoods6841 on February 9, 2024 at 10:07 am

Great views of the Tulips,,love them,,so glad to see your doing ok..be careful and stay safe..God bless you
