We prefer to call it The War Of Northern Aggression. Most people don’t realize how close we came to winning. We were on the outskirts of Washington and but for a twist of fate almost got to capture Lincoln. Lincoln the idiot he was like to go observe the battles and would sometimes get caught in the thick of things. He was almost sniped more than a few times. His top hat got shot from his head while observing the battle at least once.

My last outing with my detector, I found an old gas valve, like used on acetylene gas lamps.
It’s very ornate piece, that I’m sure my Grandmother and Grandfather used back in the early 1900’s.

you guys need some water out there to clean those things off so we can see them more clearly. Geeze. How hard is that?

  4. bonnie harris on December 10, 2022 at 12:41 am

I would have loved finding the container of gold coins in California that were dated back to the gold rush. I’ll bet they brought in a tidy profit. I love history, and the relics that you find that reflect that history. Good work on the farm Robert.

Shouldn’t you search around an old oak tree for the coin jar. 😀

  13. Heather McBride on December 10, 2022 at 12:53 am

You should use all those wisteria branches laying around to put in the ruts in your Field Road.

Wisteria is pretty when it blooms, but it is a mess there after. It ranks with the invasive honeysuckle that takes over like kudzu.

We use cameras made by ARLO, they let you know when someone or some animal appears at your house.

  19. Roby Daniels on December 10, 2022 at 12:59 am

Hey ya all I have a question. You should do a video on how to use a metal detector. I’ve always wanted one never had the opportunity to get 1.

  20. karen matthews on December 10, 2022 at 1:00 am

I just watched a video on what not to ever plant in your job, wisteria was one of them.

  21. BILL SHEPHERD on December 10, 2022 at 1:01 am

My wife and I bought a house built in1905 and while doing some digging around an old flower bed we found a C clamp. I’m spraying it with liquid wrench to see if I can get the screw part working.

Love this fun time at the farm video

  23. rockubtzer on December 10, 2022 at 1:03 am

You should detect around the foundation and under the porch people tend to hide things like time capsules and money stashes in protected areas.

  24. Richard Hutchings on December 10, 2022 at 1:05 am

I like you Stormy Kromer hat, Robert. I have one just like it.

  25. Marsha Sullivan on December 10, 2022 at 1:06 am

How odd to find 2 pocket watch backs. The watches might not be too far away !

  26. fifibrown13 on December 10, 2022 at 1:07 am

I LOVE metal detecting! No matter what you find.

  27. Nina Appelt on December 10, 2022 at 1:07 am

    Never plant wisteria or bamboo.

can y’all make a video showing the relics after they were cleaned up ?

  32. CBSDracster on December 10, 2022 at 1:11 am

Just now watching this video and it’s fascinating as always. That button is off the US Army M1912/17 pattern uniform tunic. There would have been 5 down the front and probably a spare or 2 in the Doughboy’s sewing kit.

  33. Larry Smith on December 10, 2022 at 1:12 am

    Amazing finds

  34. Rosiecatbandit on December 10, 2022 at 1:12 am

Looks like dead broken vine, you need to have a nice warming bonfire for all the dead stuff and trim up the live stuff. Don’t kill it, just support it.

  35. RanchStock Stray on December 10, 2022 at 1:14 am

Interesting video but can’t help feeling that the land may never be recoverable from the above ground Wisteria and more so from the seemingly never-ending root system. I would think that it will take professional equipment to up end it all and not sure even that could correct the undergrowth. I applaud your tenacity.

  36. Michael McCormick on December 10, 2022 at 1:14 am

Where you were digging . If you fine stuff all in one spot it usally means that was a location of an out house. Where the family.would have thrown away there trash. They know latter that would cover it over then dig another hole.
    In the outhouse!

  37. Donna Maben on December 10, 2022 at 1:15 am

Love watching your adventures… Just a suggestion, take your chainsaw and cut the base of the wisteria vines to stop this year’s spring growth and spray the cuts with a powerful weed killer, I’m battling trumpet vines and this method is working for me in north Missouri… Keep up the good work.

  41. Jackie Parker on December 10, 2022 at 1:18 am

Just now seeing this. It looks like winter would be great for cleaning out the property.

Brilliant. I’ve read some of the other posts and I have to agree, Robert and Brandon have to be "old souls"…its almost like they’ve found their long lost possessions. Its great they have such passion to pass on from the past. Love watching Sidestep Adventures and Watch Yer Step!!! The Old Byrd Farm….Brilliant 👋😊👍❤

Use that busted up foundation to fill your ruts

  45. Steven Grotte on December 10, 2022 at 1:24 am
