It’s got to be better than what we are smelling on the streets in So Cal.
I used to live behind it in the trailer park in the 90s and man did it stink when they stirred up the waste ponds in the back! It was like rotten eggs.I loved my house so I just burned incense till it died down. I was there for 10 years. So glad they’re finally doing something about it.
I just remember the Sugar Beet Factory. Other than that, no it doesn’t stink. Nampa is still a great city to live in.
I relocated from WA state to Nampa in the spring of 2021. Even before we came, we knew there was smell in Nampa from the Sugar Beet Factory. First, I only noticed a nice peanutty smell. But, 10 days into our living in Nampa, we smelled the real thing that people talked about. We came home from the store and smelled it right away. Because we left some of the windows open, the whole house inside smelled terrible. It’s hard to describe, but, it’s really, really bad smell and it lasted for hours. So, I started talking to Sugar Factory, their environmental director, about what’s causing such a strong smell and if they are doing anything about it. Like you already saw in Dave’s video, they just started on the project to reduce and eliminate the bad smell. It was going to take two years to complete the project. Fast forward to now. Yes, the difference is huge! And if what Dave mentioned in the video happens, by the spring of 2024, we should literally have no factory smell at all. I hope they will leave for us a bit of that delicious roasted peanut smell, at least, now and then. This how you’ll know you are still in Nampa! I love this city. Love living in Treasure Valley. Dave, thanks for shining the light on this old problem that is becoming a thing of the past!
