I’m from Alaska, and I lived all over . But when I lived in Cold Bay, we had less . My dad had a truck we had to push start . But I could buy beer at the White Alice site when I was 15 . The truck was named double ugly. I worked for GCI . They almost sent to Nome, but I’ve been to other places like Bethel.
Thats really not that bad for the convenience… Lucky there’s even a market, most people who live in the wilderness 100s of miles from any real civilization, kinda survive on their own… Thats why the went to the wilderness. Yall seem like folks from cities, that want that back but cant cope with that so they just stay and turn the place they are into the place they ran away from. Imagine how much time and effort it takes just to keep yall alive? Just so yall can manipulate yourselves into believing youre in Alaska and surviving on your own lol
Seems like it would be Cheaper for all you permanent residents to invest in a plane and one of you get a pilot license and just fly and get your supplies once a month. I’ve heard of others doing it.
Good to know. But in all seriousness one must be capable, knowledgeable, competent, savagely creative ‘and self reliant to live in the wilderness. My cousin has lived in Alaska for almost 60 years. He tells me, there really isn’t anything I can tell him he does not know. That’s Savage!
Maybe Starlink Internet is a cheaper alternative now?
1 reason to buy a starlink. A 1 time $500(for the sattelight) and a $150 a month subscription. (Internet)
You would think a state that provides so much wealth and has so many natural resources they would not fleece their citizens.
No
Yeah fuck Alaska what is gas $10 gallon
Starlink
Isn’t that cost subsidized by oil dividends?
Star link is only 110 a month

Beautiful place but FCK that! Those prices gotta be the worst I’ve ever seen
Least I couldnt afford to be alcoholic with that price for a case 🤣 i could get 4 cases for that here
Omg and I thought Vermont was bad
This was shot in 2021, hence the masks. And before a lot of the current inflation which shows just how pricey it really is to live in Nome
Those planes flying in the internet every morning are the real heros 😅
Yea, this shouldn’t be surprising to anyone.
Well I don’t know how to put it but if you love pain Stay Other wise I would move.!!
Damn…
$ 200.00 for an oil change. !!! Wow
OK now, I made my decission to NOT move to Nome.
Snickers are cheeper in Alaska then Ontario Canada, hard chill….
Diaper face

This is not sustainable !!!

They make $40 an hour and we get corp checks 4x a year we a ok!!!
Holy fuck!!!
Yet they will pay you to colonize alaska. And then rob you and get it all back in the store
That’s a no brainer… Bring up and starlink or two next time you fly in and sell all your friends and neighbors internet access at $250 a month.

You can always go to Washington and do your grocery shopping each week 😂😂😂
Great place to visit.

The government and small businesses need the rest of your gold 😕
I was in Dutch Harbor and the tvs sold for &50,000.
The real small one was 10k! That was 30 years ago
How do you y’all actually afford that shit like do they got good ass jobs up there or something
Omg.
Case of glasier water were I live is less than 3.00 case
Why not just buy a water filter.
Bidenomics….
It’s like that everywhere in Alaska
Wild, my internet cost more and I am in Cincinnati. Them prices are crazy thought, makes sense I guess.
Either they should move….or they have AMAZING jobs.
Well I’m curious about median income then?
Why would you buy water when theres tons of it just lying around everywhere, you know somebody is thawing that shit and puttin in a bottle.
I’m just tryna figure out, why do y’all live there?? Honestly, either move or shut the hell up…y’all look silly
Idk why anyone would be surprised by this but its a good way to stay remote lol
What about the jobs? Do they pay good or?
