If there’s a gold mine it’s found. Technology exists to locate and identify minerals via airplane with the invention of sophisticated antenna a few yrs back.

Attempts to keep gold strikes hush-hush have always been the rule of thumb. It’s no different today.

Just think of all the gold or gems buried or stashed out there, just waiting for some lucky person to discover it. Heck, they are still finding massive treasures over in the UK from way back into the Viking age.
I also like the story of that old desert rat in California that modified his old Jeep with a huge metal detector and after years of searching found either THE biggest or one of the biggest nuggets in North America, something like 75lbs worth of gold, and this guy was just an amateur not school trained or anything but he searched where ancient rivers ran their course. Cool stuff.

This is going to be a cool series. There’s a lot of rumors about lost Confederate gold and union payrolls being lost.
