Cool stuff, I’ve found thrift shops here in South Florida are extremely random. I usually try to make the rounds of thrift stores at least once a week in my area on whatever day I can. I barely find profitable books but have found some good clothes, electronics, video games, tools and toys. The independent thrift stores are pretty good down here too. There is one church thrift store that I have scored high profit items at many times. Picked up a pair of bose speakers for 10 bucks once at a local good will that I resold for 350 lol. I much prefer picking at garage sales than thrift stores but the thrift stores do pay off.

I buy books at goodwill outlet. Paperbacks .25 and hard backs .50

Done-Eden.  My favorite Goodwill was Pinellas Park, favorite place to buy books was Palm Harbor Friend of the Library Bookstore, although they had one in Mulberry Florida with brand-new paperbacks 8-#1 once that I spent a fortune at.  I lived in Tampa and there was a gold mine down there for stuff to sell.  I did my best Ebaying down there.  I miss it so much.  Rich people retire to Florida from up north, bringing their 7 bedroom house full of things, including all their winter items and try to put it in their 2 bedroom condo, realize it’s not going to happen, so they donate it to the SAs and the Goodwills.  My favorite thing there was t-shirts from EVERYWHERE.  And year round yard sales were nice.  YEAR ROUND!  And I got off work anywhere from 6-7am so it was prime time to go thrifting.

I am in central fl about an hour and a half from Clearwater. I find Goodwill to have a lot of new things that are priced about the same as ebay or amazon because a lot of goodwill’s are selling online but in Florida the thrift stores are everywhere.

Thanks for the video.  I live in Memphis, TN and have found the same scenarios.  Our Goodwill’s are overflowing but our Salvation Army’s leave a lot to be desired.  I can drive a short distance to Mississippi and see the Goodwill’s are managed entirely different than in Memphis.  Arkansas Goodwill’s are just the opposite….missing quite a bit of funding.  Looking forward to your next video.
    Thanks, Renee

i think if you like to go OUT "the Hunt" i would stick with garage/yard/rummage sales estate sales flea markets reason i say that is because even if its over priced you can pull out your phone and show the know it all sellers what there items are really going for and maybe even work the price down more. cant do that if you go to goodwill or salvation army (they are pretty firm on there prices marked….don’t like to change or alot of times they say they cant its prices at the warehouse) Personally Now i get the Majority of my inventory from Buy on ebay In lots and parting out there is ALOT of stuff you can get at all these sales and MOST of the time even cheaper and possibly better condition and not even have to leave the comfort of your own home. i guess it all depends on what YOU like to do to source your inventory. but yeah for the most part stay far away from these to (use to be thrift shops) unless its one of the outlets that sell by the pound (you can find some great stuff at these last chance stores) also i found some of the smaller real Thrift shops have some really good prices (prices that goodwill and salvation army use to have there think will everyone is reselling our stuff online for 10x what they pay for it here so lets up our prices…..and then think re sellers would keep shopping there how wrong there think was)  only time i shop the goodwill now is when they have there monthly 50% there entire stores usually its on the weekend so there is ALOT of resellers its CRAZY!

Our Salvation Army stores are in very bad neighborhoods (don’t go there at night type neighborhoods) and our Goodwills are like Walmarts (over priced on quite a few things, but I find the most there).  Savers are REALLY overpriced and hard to find anything worth buying.  I live in Wisconsin.

  9. Krzysztof Blazejewicz on January 6, 2023 at 4:14 am

that is why i do not like much for savers. the name does not go well with the company because their stuff is way too overpriced.

There are tons of pickers in the Tampa/Clearwater area. Not worth the hassle for me. Just go on a Wednesday and you will see.

  11. everythingcollectibl on January 6, 2023 at 4:17 am

yes im from florida and your right on GOODWILL unless its there outlet centers are alll OVER PRICED anyone picking books i know your into them use to sell back in the day .59 or lower for paper backs now its .99 and higher and for hard backs they use to sell for .99 flat i hardly ever saw a hardback for more then ,99 now its 1.99 and UP i have seen books at the goodwill for as much as 9.99! they are no longer THRIFT shops down here in florida they are ACTUAL RETAIL SHOPS oh and just so you know THEY ARE NOT NON PROFIT COMPANY they are FOR PROFIT COMPANY!

  12. Jay Noggle on January 6, 2023 at 4:19 am

Andrew, very similar circumstances here in the Pacific Northwest. Goodwill seems to run the entire thing! They are my least favorite sourcing option other than the outlet stores. The outlet store is my number one sourcing option. I very much have a love/hate relationship with Goodwill industries, I think they are incredibly greedy and overpriced due to the fact that 90% of their inventory is given to them as well as delivered to them. I could only wish! LOL

  13. NOLA Picker on January 6, 2023 at 4:19 am

I live in New Orleans and I find tons of good clothing. The rich give to goodwill and the poor doesnt even know what the good brands are. Goodwill marks up mostly junk that they think is worth more but have no clue which brands are high end and stick them on the regular shelves.  I do well in garage sales finding dvd and video games here and that is mostly what I stick to. Great video man.

  15. Florida Bargain Diva on January 6, 2023 at 4:21 am

Yous missed the Goodwill Bookstores, really great variety. Salvation Army has always everything 50% off on a Wednesday.Florida is showered with Thriftstores, thrifting paradise.

  16. everythingcollectibl on January 6, 2023 at 4:21 am

Yes Most big what use to be thrift shops here are no longer thrift shops and more retail then thrift goodwill and salvation army are WAY over priced compared to 10-15  years ago its because they hire people to check the price of things they get in and they think if its going for this much on ebay they can price it the same…..thing is they forget people that sell on ebay and amazon were the ones that were buying the most for them a while back they thought if they raised there rpices we would still buy they were dead wrong there are alot of resellers down here that have boycotted these 2 stores ALL together. i even was in one recently and heard a customer go off on an employee there how these things are donated and they should be ashamed of the rpices they want for them its not like they had to pay for them…… i was like you go girl!

The lost tapes were found… Reflections on our visit during March of 2014 to Dunedin Florida. We had a relaxed time and I thought the weather was pleasant in March. I think some day I will live in New England from mid October to May 1st.

Watching people look through endless racks of clothes hoping to find something to re-sell reminds me of TWEEKERS!

I live in FL, that area Tampa/Clearwater/St.Pete is different than my area that I hit Naples to Bradenton I think the area you were in gets hit harder, so probably if you are not there when they are putting stuff out, your not finding anything.

What is the best way to sell clothing. I have been trying to sell brand new Tommy Hilfiger and Tommy Bahama shirts with not even a nibble, They are also priced fairly low to start with. Any tips?
