My family lives in Dahlonega and I visit a lot. Love the creeks. I look for Rhodium and platinum more so than gold. However Dahlonega gold is some of the purest gold in the world and has a bit more yellow color due to the purity. I like to use a magnet once I get to the black sand. It’s time consuming though

Maybe you should be a black sand dealer. Holy crap that’s a lot of black sands. Vermont is hard to prospect but we don’t have that much black sands. Lots of heavies here though. I feel for you. Good luck this year

Why in other places do they dive for gold on riverbeds but everybody here in GA pans instead?

  13. 1849 GOLD PROSPECTOR on August 31, 2023 at 8:48 pm

Hey buddy my area totally has that much black sand and lead mixed together over four ounces of lead in every pan and ever bit of my prospecting has at least that much black sand I live in CA in cajon pass area and the amount of material to black sand and tons of heavys is a lot it is difficult but not impossible I’m gunna be coming out with videos and I’ll be able to show you what I have to go through you’ll get it buddy and my gold is good size to super super small gold and you need to probably run different matting and bigger riffles works great for me I use miners moss and big riffles which agitates the material and allows the gold to drop you got it buddy

  14. eric best on August 31, 2023 at 8:48 pm

100%, between the amount of black sand and our red clay it can be very frustrating

  15. Mandy Rodriguez on August 31, 2023 at 8:49 pm

Dry it get a magic and a plastic tube and it the magic in ther and run it around it pic up all the sand. Let it out and fall back down and do it a few times and ther u go then pan the sand after lol u rookie

My area has about 10x the amount of black sand I can fill a pan to the top with pure black sand

  21. mrhot6shot on August 31, 2023 at 9:04 pm

I think there are better mats and or other ways to to catch fine gold. The one you are using I would not trust to get the smallest stuff. I sure would take those cons home and try again.

  22. Kaiser Prospecting on August 31, 2023 at 9:05 pm

Cherokee county, GA so far does not have that much black sand from digging a hole with shovel and panning it. Should def come down here and check it out would give u some good spots if u want to.

  23. Jonathan D Espaillat on August 31, 2023 at 9:10 pm

You need to get one of those vibrating tables that declassify the black sand for you

  24. Robert Critchley on August 31, 2023 at 9:11 pm

I go in/to the Cummings area. The steam I pan changes every time I go. Black sand and the same type of AU.

  25. Crozbyguy on August 31, 2023 at 9:12 pm

I REALLY REALLY like your camera! Now, I build a wet sand cyclonic jar separator that will recover all that tiny gold and once you see it, you can’t un-see it. I make them for the field, I’ve been using mine for 15 years. Maybe you already seen the new Cyclonic Jar video, Including the bucket it weighs 4-3/4 pounds, I use a small 12 volt battery. Anything smaller than 3/16ths goes through it. Save the black sand for and hour and run it on location. Take home a spoon full of gold. Sneak Peak https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q93tIdEm7Gc&t=213s

  26. Brian Lucas on August 31, 2023 at 9:14 pm

What if you took the concentrated black sand and heated/ melted the fine gold out of it?

  27. S.D.I Prospecting on August 31, 2023 at 9:14 pm

The black sand in the uwharrie is about 95% hematite also.

  28. John Eaton on August 31, 2023 at 9:16 pm

Steeper pitch on you box will help with removing black sand

  29. Daniel Peters on August 31, 2023 at 9:17 pm

Try using a straw to gently blow the black sand away from the dried gold I seen someone do it seemed to work well. Good luck on the next one.

  30. S.D.I Prospecting on August 31, 2023 at 9:18 pm

Looks alot like the material in the Uwarrie river.

  31. Jim Davis on August 31, 2023 at 9:19 pm

I love my adventure sluice to the point that I bought the 10 x 36 version of it for my old Keene A-52. It works great and getting much more fine gold. I am using a hand dredge and feeding right into the sluice.

  32. PappyB on August 31, 2023 at 9:22 pm

I use my Royal Miller Table it cleans the gold pretty good from black sand nice gold enjoyed the video 🕳️🇺🇸⛏️

  33. Montana Treasure Hunter on August 31, 2023 at 9:23 pm

I have Garnets like you have black sand!!! I would say that was a mule a shoe as straight as the back half was, nice finds.

  34. The Bodging Bigfoot on August 31, 2023 at 9:23 pm

Gonna have to tag you in a one my vids now. Ill take GA black sand over all the silver stuff in my creeks. Never mind how fine the gold is compared to chunks of black sand lol. There may be a tad bit more black sand there but man this stuff up here is definitely tougher

  35. Don Barboza on August 31, 2023 at 9:23 pm

    How bout using a magnet

  36. mrhot6shot on August 31, 2023 at 9:24 pm

It doesn’t matter how small it is, it all adds up. I like your scientific approach to your prospecting. It makes sense to me.

  37. Solon Woodall on August 31, 2023 at 9:24 pm

    mule shoe;;;;;

  38. DBuff on August 31, 2023 at 9:25 pm

It was a huge storm in Dahlonega in 2021 they called it the hundred year storm into trees down the creeks and even wiped out some bridges. It was severe and it wiped away a lot of the rocks but left a lot of more ancient rocks underneath.

  39. Henry Gross on August 31, 2023 at 9:25 pm

Maybe need a different type of sluice mat for the flour gold.

  40. Sam Shapiro on August 31, 2023 at 9:25 pm

We have similar black sands in CO outside of Denver. And lots of fine micro gold. I have to clean out my GH mini stream sluice every 30 minutes or it gets too packed with black sands! I just bought a Miller Table to help process and clean my cons as it took me a good 5 hours to separate the gold from the black sands after a 2 hour highbanker run!

  41. world of teddies on August 31, 2023 at 9:25 pm

    Classify your gravels.

  42. Dewey Steverson on August 31, 2023 at 9:25 pm

Great Job, I have been watching all your videos and the only thing that I say is that yeah running slower produces more of the fines that might have washed out. I am thinking about it and if you run your adventure sluice and place a catch pan at the end to slow wash it then you might be able to run just a little bit faster with the sluice. Then after every run pull the pan and pan it to see if any fines went out the end or just dump it in a bucket for final clean up at home. The spot that I have been going to has yielded lots of small garnets and black sand. I haven’t done a slow clean up yet, just dump it in my bucket till I get a whole bucket then I will rework it to see what comes out of it. Happy hunting.

  43. MerchantMarineGuy on August 31, 2023 at 9:25 pm

You can pan fast down to the black sands, then toss that in a concentrates bucket and take it home. You alluded to the problem – coarse black sands displaces the gold, making it difficult to pan. The solution is classification! Take your dried concentrates and classify them out into as many increments you can 20/30/50/70/100/200 fractions is what I use. Remove and save the magnetics. Pan out the magnetic and non-magnetic fractions. Viola! Easy to separate gold and black sand when they are the same size.

Don’t pan slowly though, unless you are worried about losing gold out your pan but your technique looks sound so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

  44. John Courtney (Scott) on August 31, 2023 at 9:27 pm

Your area is absolutely hard to find gold in!!

  45. TheReal Me on August 31, 2023 at 9:27 pm

turn a pan 45 degrees and lift it carefully. then back to 45 degrees, and lift it.. shaking up and down. Sand will work itself out as you slide water over the pan slowly – so gold don’t jump out. Too fast, too quick.. you get Sand.. lots of it. And, look for dark pebbles.. needed for better gold sites.. Any Caves around? Take silt out of?

  46. Clayton Bigsby on August 31, 2023 at 9:28 pm

You know theres some viens feeding those rivers that havent been discoverd yet. There are so many little creeks up there coming out of the mountain that look like perfect places to find those veins . To my knowledge alot if not most of the gold originally found in dahlonega was picked off the bottom of the river. I know they invented submersible vehicle that allowed two men to work and breathe on the bottom of the river because there was so much gold just sitting there. There are only two mines uo there still running and neither is on the river . Also to my limited knowledge no veins hsve been found feeding the creeks and rivers . So they are still there.

  47. Kurt Diegel on August 31, 2023 at 9:29 pm

You should make a paydirt bag with nothing but non magnetic black sand and fine gold lol.

  48. gwolfeman on August 31, 2023 at 9:30 pm

Excellent pans! Keep up the hard work, all that small gold definitely adds up! 👍

  49. Douglas McCallum on August 31, 2023 at 9:31 pm

another area with a ton of black sand like that is Wisconsin especially the banks of lake superior but tons of gold. The restrictions on sluices and dredges where you are make it hard to deal with but not impossible a good neodymium magnet can help sift through and make it less of a hassle but your best bet looks to be collect what you can and sluice it at home. there are some excellent devices out there if you wanna build them or spend the money on them.

  50. Kel Beeding on August 31, 2023 at 9:34 pm

Hey, I’m new to panning! Your videos are extremely helpful. Can you point me in the right direction when it comes to how to acquiring mineral claims in Georgia?
