Nice finds. My family found a Union saber on our ranch. It was heavy rusted. May been used when the US army moved the Navajos to Ft. Defiance.

Too bad a few of those weren’t complete. Love those black obsidian pieces. We don’t find that material back east.

Private property or not, Native American artifacts are legally protected under the Archaeological Resources Protection Act of 1979. Picking up, or even worse, excavating and/or digging up artifacts can get in a lot of trouble. Be careful what goes in your pocket, versus what leave behind.

In that place there must be many hidden artifacts, they must be found. Congratulations my friend for carrying out an activity as healthy as that and in the company of your family so everything is more beautiful. Greetings and blessings.

Nice video, I was just in Silver City the end of September while out camping. I was definitely cold out there. But I did find a very nice Civil War era US enlisted belt buckle.

I found a Walking Liberty half dollar in the driveway with my metal detector a few days ago. I`d never dug the signal there (quarter signal) because when I did the "lift the coil" test it indicated to me that it was probably junk. The coin was very shallow and gave a very strong signal that the detector could see at nearly 7 inches above the ground. What a surprise when I finally dug it! I used to hunt old bottle dumps when I was younger and I sold the bottles for extra money.

Hate to tell you but most of what you found are actually flakes from the process of making arrow heads those are the pieces that come off when making arrowheads I’m a flintknapper and make quite a few in my spare time

One man’s hobby, finding old bottles. Another man’s hobby, plinking at old bottles. I’m sort of sorry for all the tin can shooting we did in the ‘60s. Sorta. Bottles anyway.

  44. Charlie Swearingen on August 17, 2023 at 7:49 pm

You probably know already, but to make sure the brown jug top and bottom are parts of a Purex laundry bleach bottle.

  45. Tom Shively on August 17, 2023 at 7:50 pm

    Cool vistas

  46. Marino K9 on August 17, 2023 at 7:50 pm

You guys must be new to the desert. Really silly to be wearing flip-flops and reaching down picking stuff up like that. Good way to get bit by a rattlesnake

  47. mel mede on August 17, 2023 at 7:52 pm

Wish city people would stay in the cities. All artifacts found on public lands are protected by state and federal laws*. It is illegal and unethical to collect artifacts on public lands. Artifacts include anything made or used by humans including arrowheads and flakes, pottery, basketry, rock art, bottles, coins, metal pieces, and even old cans. https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprd3821264.pdf

  48. Cassie McGuire on August 17, 2023 at 7:53 pm

Last time that I checked it was illegal to pick up any type of Indian artifacts and bring them home with you. You can take pictures but you are not supposed to touch them or take them
