Hello, everybody welcomes back to Colter and Zaves awesome adventures in finding gold! I had a subscriber comment that there are not many as many youtube videos on finding gold in Idaho. So that is what I thought I would do. I found Prospector Jesse’s video and want to pick up where he left off. Today I will be talking about southern Idaho and the Snake River canyon. First, I will be going over some basic geology in the area and talk about the Yellowstone hotspot that has been bringing the gold to the surface. Then I will speak of the great Bonneville flood, another great event that riped a gouge through the Snake River Plane and left giant piles of gravel in its path. We will look at google earth at a place where these events cross paths, and finally, we will visit the location and take a few samples.

Nice place – I’m also in the Boise area, I’m just starting to prospect and have only found a couple specs so far, so glad to see some history of why there’s gold in the area and what to look for in the gravel banks

Awesome video man, yea everyone stay tuned, we got some really exciting prospecting videos in some historic gold mining country here in Idaho and maybe will find some of that golden shiny. Just have to wait till the snow melts. 🤠

Nice gold recovery. I was just wondering is that place Public Access or do you have to have a claim there? In Washington I had a really good spot I could go to and find tiny nuggets and some fine gold. But here in Idaho I’m new to this area. This gives me ideas on where to go. Would love to find a public access area I could go to. Cuz I don’t have a claim yet.

  29. Nick Nygaard on December 19, 2022 at 1:58 am

Nice video! If you are in boise, the Idaho gold prospectors association has a meeting April 13th. You could definitely sell a few of those magnetic drill attachments…super cool. Hopefully I can pick your brain, I go to a local claim near Centreville (miss lucy), getting a little bored of that spot and would love to venture out. Anyways, great vid, keep them coming

Why would you presume that was an illegal mining operation ? It may have been private ground at one point or it may have been a permitted operation if it’s public ground.

Neat drone shot of the bruneau canyon overlook!

  32. ihavea65 on December 19, 2022 at 1:59 am

Great video. I was wondering where you got your map information? I’ve been trying to find the information or the program that shows where the mines were, the formations, the contacts, who owns the land, etc. I saw one video where the guy used google earth, but some kind of layer that showed that information. Where do I find that? Thanks!

I just agreed to purchase 2 50 acre lots in remote Lehmi salmon nat forest. Both have several mines in them. I know nothing about mines and the potential of epa issues. Can you direct me to info or give me a quick overview of what to be concerned about? I want the land for its land not the mines but I dont wabt to be stuck with a toxic clean up.
