► The state of Wyoming is home to a population of just shy of 600,000 people, making it the least populated state in America. Despite this, as a state, it ranks seventh place in terms of the highest missing persons rate per 100,000 people, sitting at 7.77. To put that into perspective, Texas has a population consisting of almost 30 million people, but Wyoming’s missing person rate (per 100,000) is almost double that despite only having 2% of the population. That warrants a whole conversation in and of itself, but let’s explore some of the more unusual cases that have occurred in this state.

I’ve been elk hunting a time or two. We get up before sunrise, it’s really cold, so we bundle up. But as the day goes on, the sun rises and we start to sweat from the hiking. We slowly, one by one, take our layers off.
I can see, looking at a report, reading words on a page, it may sound like paradoxical undressing. Actually, it’s just when you hike around a lot, (like when you’re lost and panicky, trying to find your way back to safety), you get hot, so you start taking layers off.
I honestly think that 99% of these disappearances are easily explained by just how huge, wild, and daunting these national parks are. People don’t often grasp how easy it is to get lost and how hard it is to be found in these places. It’s not like combing your neighborhood for a lost cat, it is quite literally a needle in a haystack.
I had a strange remote disappearance lately. Turns out it had fallen between the couch cushions.
Y’all have too much faith in dogs and airplanes
The first story seems pretty obvious that someone randomly shot the guy off his horse
Pretty disappointed that you never even mentioned a single missing person report from the Wind River Reservation, but such is life. Pretty scary how easily it is to hide a body here though, if you’re very well versed with the land in this state, you can hide anything. Also, Shoshone is pronounced show-show-knee.
ABOUT 2%PPL Missing IS DUE TO HOMICIDES DISPEARRANCE S
Great video. But "per 100,000" is a stat used to compared populations of various sizes. It’s like a percentage. What it means is that 7.77 people out of every 100,000 people in Wyoming are missing (which is 0.00777%). Texas has 4.16 people missing out of every 100,000 (0.00416% of its population). So yes, while Wyoming’s numbers are higher, the size of the population has nothing to do with it. Also, can we talk about the number of missing people in Alaska??!! 😢
The Wyoming and Texas comparison at the beginning of the video isn’t quite fair. Yes, Texas is huge and vast in land area but probably more than 1/2 if not 3/4 of it’s population is just in it’s 5 or 6 largest cities. Also Texas doesn’t really have a whole true wild undeveloped land for forested parks and reserves. It’s rather quite developed albeit agricultural land or vast cattle ranches. King Ranch for example is the largest ranch in the country with 900,000-acres I believe is in Texas. Like this there is many large ranches and agricultural land. There’s not much public land like national parks or forests in other states. Also Texas might have the most deer in the country but it doesn’t have many predators, no wolves, no "big bears" etc
I think because Frank had never been known to tie the reins of the horse together & he would of left the reins hanging loose – someone else tied them & the horse was making it’s own way back to the camp
Personally I d think twice before going camping at all !
It is pronounced grow vont, ( gros ventre). It is a leftover from French trappers. Many of the names in Wyoming are from French, Native American, and some Scots-Irish persons.
The only camping I do is in the comments
Sorry. Can’t get past that bs accent. Find an American to dictate
Love Wyoming, grew up there and my parents live there now. There is no wonder why there is a high missing person’s there. Most of it remains wild and the remote locations are unboundless. It is an amazing state.
My British brother in-law visited us in the PNW for his first time in the US and he was like oh shit yeah I finally get why people are always disappearing out here. It’s rural and the terrain is sketchy.
I bet Norris fell off his horse, and then another hunter accidentally shot him thinking he was an animal
Then when the shooter realized what he did, he buried or hid the body…
Bigfoot 😢😢
Finally a scary video about Wyoming now I don’t feel left out
Just a heads up for funsies, Shoshone is pronounced “sho-sho-NEE”
Yes horses will spook at well could be anything… a candy bar wrapper 😂 and yes there’s a reason to tie up reins , so the horse doesn’t get leg caught (or anything else ) up in them if running loose.
Made the same mistake myself. It is pronounced Gro vant. Gros Ventre. Hard o and soft a…My buddy thought I was trying to be funny.
People need to stop wondering and going alone in lonely remote areas. Evil exist out there
A trail horse does not spook as easily as a show horse. They are usually what we call bomb proof but perhaps a snake spooked the horse and it reared. The guy could have fallen off and hit his head on a rock and knocked himself unconscious then been dragged off by a predator. Just a stab in the dark. But it is very unusual to tie the reins together when you dismount.
It always seems like these 411 cases have bad weather and dogs that can’t track. Maybe the wind, rain, snow, etc. washes away the scent trail. 🤷♂️
Also, FLIR can’t find you when you’re dead.
Hey all, I thought this topic ended up being quite interesting and there’s a couple of unusual disappearances in here, especially the second one. Do let me know your thoughts. I also have more free time so starting from today there will be one video per week 😁.
If you’re reading this then I hope that you have a great weekend 👍 be safe all
I know several people that have been seriously injured riding their horse in well known country. One guy I worked with fell off his horse when it spooked deep in the mountains in Wyoming. He was by himself broke a couple ribs and his hip lost his horse, by the grace of God he came across people that helped him.
I think these people run into another dimension that the weather is very hot and when they find water they go swimming or just take their close off and the portal moves to another location and the weather goes back to the freezing weather while their swimming or hiking. That would explain why the clothing is missing and they are caught while they can’t get out of the water or died because of the change of the vast weather change.
Wyoming does have some of the dumbest people. That could be why.
Paradoxical undressing due to hypothermia is not a certainty. That is, it does not always happen that people suffering from hypothermia will feel hot and undress. The probability of its occurrence cannot be access exactly for an individual. In general, paradoxical undressing occurs between 20% to 50% of hypothermia deaths.
Interesting
Lol you going over the stats at the start .. okay mate. The comparison with Texas and then saying it has 2% of the population? What? 😅
First story.
I bet that these searches WISHED that they could somehow commicate with the horse, and find out what happened.
Either Aliens or Portals
Umm pardon me why didn’t they follow the horses tracks back to where they it came from. If this story was true they probably would have found him. You did say there was a snow storm. Idiocy
I’m glad you don’t do the David Paulides type thing! 👍
Someone may want to get ahold of Frank’s family in U😮tah
Hey mate! I really like the titles of your recent videos. It really catches my attention. Yes, I noticed of a couple of the titles like "Missing in Glacier National Park", "Missing At High Elevations", " The Intellectual Disappearance Problem". These are very good from a marketing/advert perspective.
Your cadence is awful!!! I say it with respect
Don’t go alone
Your accent doesn’t fit the narrative and I would have kept the horse and belongings this story sounds far fetched and who or what would have been out in that type of weather maybe some inbred caninabalistic booger man the horse would have made a tasty meal to 😂 though I did find them humorous
Wyoming’s 7th place ranking in terms of missing people is not really that mysterious. Because the state has so few people, disappearing is far easier because there are so fewer people around you. In a crowded city or high population state, there is a higher probability that you can be back traced by locating people who saw you last or even security cams.
As someone from Wyoming, weather is always unpredictable in Wyoming. It can be 40+ degrees one day, and the next, you have a blizzard 🤷♀️
I am in Green River, WY area working. I hope these missing people are found soon 🙏🏽
I never camp/hike alone and if so I always let people know where I am and where I’m going.
My grandfather came up missing in 1942 in the wind River Mountains, kind of north west of Pinedale, Wyoming. His skeletal remains were found a couple of years later, along with his gear and his rifle by a game warden patrolling the wilderness. The authorities figured he was shot, and the guy who was suspected of it, came down from the mountains to Morton or Pavilion Wyoming. He then moved to Alaska. I wanted to talk to him however, he died in 1986 I believe. Many of the old-timers believe he was guilty, however, it was never investigated that well. They named the other name lake, where he was found dead man lake. Heckuva way to have a family legacy. The game warden’s family still has possession of my granddad‘s rifle. My grandfather’s name was Eugene Surrell.
So in the case of vinita the Yosemite national park is no where near this area, it’s in California
Was foulplay ruled outs !! Cause there’s answers out there’s ?
Not nice but sheer stupidity will get you killed
We are getting spoiled with all your amazing uploads!! *Thank you so much!*
THEY NEED TO TIGHTEN UP ON THESE AREAS PEOPLE JUST DON’T VANISH IN THE SEARCHES SOMETIMES WHERE THEY SEARCH BEFORE ALL OF A SUDDENLY THEY TURN UP I FIND THAT VERY STRANGE AND BLOODHOUNDS ARE THE BEST TRACKERS IT’S BEEN PROVEN……
