The dark history of the overthrow of Hawaii – Sydney Iaukea

The dark history of the overthrow of Hawaii – Sydney Iaukea

Get to know the story of Queen Liliʻuokalani, the last queen of Hawaii, and how she fought the US annexation of the islands.

On January 16th, 1895, two men arrived at Liliʻuokalani’s door, arrested her, and imprisoned her. The Missionary Party had recently seized power and now confiscated her diaries, ransacked her house, and claimed her lands. Liliʻuokalani was Hawaii’s queen and she ruled through one of the most turbulent periods of its history. Sydney Iaukea shares how the ruler fought the annexation of Hawaii.

And they complain about China invading Taiwan. They want to have a global war over this island. Imagine Japan or some other country trying to defend Hawaii.

I heard about this like about last year in my high school of 12th grade and it pissed me off for what my country did but with the ever influence of china’s communist regime, domination of world trade, commisting harsh human rights violations, and stuff like genocide its really gonna be hard for now for the Hawaiian people to get their independence back sense rn the world is on the verge of the first time for the 44 of the worlds powers leading powers to possibly going to war for the first time sense ww2 if I remember correctly from how many died in ww2 video on yt

I love how the “treaty” had nothing to do with the sovereign nation of Hawaii assenting to it. Like let’s have a “treaty of annexation” with the Bahamas. And just take them. I’m sure it would stand up well

A bunch of white men brutally opressing POC and women. Nothing new, unfortunately. Although I was pretty poorly informed about the history of Hawaii and its annexation by the US. Thank you for the video.

PUBLICLY IDENTIFY ALL THE DESCENDANTS WHO BENEFITED / PROFITED FROM THE WAR CRIMINAL ACT !!!!! (EVERY MEMBER OF THE ILLEGITIMATE COMMITTEES, COUNCILS, ETC). Make their notoriety such that they can not be allowed to live in Hawaii with any degree of happiness. THEY – ALL – SHOULD BE SHUNNED, MARGINALIZED, AND SANCTIONED IN EVERY WAY CONCEIVABLE ……… NOT SERVED, WAITED ON, PATRONIZED, TALKED TO, LISTENED TO, ‘SEEN’, … NOTHING … AS IF THEY WERE AS ‘INVISIBLE’ (NOT PRESENT) AS ONE WOULD WISH THEIR ANCESTORS HAD BEEN. Don’t fall for the words of the colonizer as the Palestinians have too long done … they are not friends, or ‘fellow citizens’ – they are ENEMIES determined to (ultimately) have all the land to themselves.

One off many reasons most nations see USA government as hypocrites of the highest order. 24 carat tin hypocrites. An entire list coud be listed. And as regards the Western nations the entire globe as been siezed bia violence only and these nations left – to this dat 11.94.22 in sheer Destitution, in truth keft in far worst condition on every way imaginable than their ancestors in the so called stone age- not that most nations were in stony lands only those who fled to siezed others birthrights..
For years in was kept u Der wraps however the world wide web opened the extent of such devastation for all to see know it wasn’t just their native lands literally destroyed in the name of "progress" and conversions to a creed they the invaders did not practice in any way- none, not ant otherwise the planet would not be at war attempting to vomit the present inhabitants out up off of her.

  28. Lisa chang on March 14, 2023 at 3:34 pm

wonderful animation but the narrartor messed up the pronunciation of Liliʻuokalaniʻs name. more respect is needed in speaking hawaiian words and names correctly. you could have asked a few language experts on how to speak the language. auwe. can you do it again but speak her name properly. that would be huge.

  29. ImfamousHUE on March 14, 2023 at 3:36 pm

This is tragic. This is why i support no government. Let people live their lives!

130 years since the US illegally stole the Hawaiian Kingdom, and made it into an illegitimate and illegal state of the US. Queen Lili‘uokalani never stopped fighting for her people and land until her final breath. Rest in peace our Queen and the Hawaiian Kingdom.

i cried watching this. so sad how such a rich and beautiful culture gets annexed, destroyed for capitalistic and military interests. humanity can be absolutely beautiful at times but i hate that there is no place for love and peace in this world. at least not as long as there is more money to be made

Hawaii makes me think of how Palestine has been stolen – except that Hawaiens were not kicked out of their country – but they were stripped of all their rights and the way their lands have been stolen … by American army and others … It is horrible

  38. Olivia Wagner on March 14, 2023 at 3:51 pm

I would love to have a documentary of those on the island who feel this way. As a mixed race American, there are many races amongst the country that go against one another, when the common denominator is never spoken on. The natives of this land, the Hawaiian natives, immigrants… All have different experiences but a common pain. I heard in another video that they with the back up overthrew her and it honestly made me think of the monarchy of you know who

  39. Cody Shi on March 14, 2023 at 3:51 pm

Since we all know that the Hawaii Kingdom was a constitutional monarchy. Does anyone know a website where I can find a pdf of the Hawaii Kingdom constitution and a list of Hawaii’s prime minister throughout history.

    1898 McKinley…..again
They will NEVER BE SOVEREIGN BC IF NOT USA, THEN…JAPAN OR RUSSIA WOULD CONQUER HAWAII

  46. FunctionForm on March 14, 2023 at 3:57 pm

Sorry, but I actually sort of thought this video was terribly incomplete. A lot of references to “people”, and “groups”, and “Missionaries.” But in order for it to truly be understood, we need to understand exactly who those people were, and exactly what agreements or lack of agreements there were between the Hawaiian government or royalty, and these other groups. It’s interesting, but if I had to give this video a grade, I would give it a C-.

  47. SkySoldier on March 14, 2023 at 3:58 pm

This video glances over how the Hawaiian “nobility” sold out their own people. It didn’t become a problem until they lost their wealth and control. They lucked out that it was the US that secured them. Had it been A European country they would have fallen to the Japanese and eventually the Chinese. Fact is becoming a US state saved them from War and poverty. If they were independent today they would be a third world country with nice beaches.

In 1959, Hawaii devine al 50-lea stat al S.U.A. , iar în 1993 , hawaiienii si-au redobândit drepturile politice , pierdute acum 100 de ani , odată cu răsturnarea monarhiei si proclamarea republicii
