Thank you Larry for recounting the story of Kochera’s gold ore. From listening to stories for years now of the legends of find gold in the Superstition mountains I can say that they just keep getting more weird. Most of the time things don’t work out well for human beings and gold.

  8. @compagordo9134 on January 13, 2025 at 11:29 pm

What happen with the lost gold ore sample

  9. @marycompogno5665 on January 13, 2025 at 11:30 pm

Great new story. Stories like these I think are why we love the western U.S. the desert has a mystique about it that is like nothing else. I always have the feeling I could stumble onto some new undiscovered cache of gold, or just old, rusted junk that is just a good!

  13. @LuckyBaldwin777 on January 13, 2025 at 11:38 pm

Another good ‘ol tale, thanks Larry. Walt’s camp is above the box in Squaw Canyon. There’s a small thick Grove of ironwoods at the top of a side canyon. Walt’s camp is in the middle of that grove. There used to be a faint old trail on the south side of the grove that led to the only access into the interior of the grove, where his campsite is. It’s one heck of a walk to get up there, but is a darn fine campsite once you’re there.

The people of Arizona should get a petition started so you could get the law changed about searching for gold in the mountain and they should split it with you and quit being greedy

  15. @debbiekeith5350 on January 13, 2025 at 11:40 pm

Back to the lost Dutchman I watched the unsolved mystery episode about the gold it said he dug the hole 6 feet down and used ironwood logs and parts of a stable to seal the hole up do you have a place in the mountains were alot of that type of wood is it seems it was close to a place were someone lived because of the stable wood on the report did it say the man had gold in his backpack I seen a little of the letter

  16. @JH_75 on January 13, 2025 at 11:44 pm

One of the more interesting mysteries, for sure. Thank you, Larry. I’m going to sit right here and wait for the next one!

  17. @davidcarlisle6244 on January 13, 2025 at 11:44 pm

The only way to better hear this story would be with a sip of whiskey around a camp fire.

  18. @joeswff on January 13, 2025 at 11:44 pm

Thanks Larry. You’re the best, although I loved hearing stories from Hank.

  27. @46kvolt on January 14, 2025 at 12:01 am

So what about the gold that came missing from the museum? You started the last story and never went back? You led us to believe that there was something intertwined or coming back to the missing gold? SMH

  28. @loadedfun4764 on January 14, 2025 at 12:01 am

Who’s to say those folks weren’t killed and never made it back to the camp site…. I’ve followed the lore for over a decade now and there’s lots of stories of folks who’ve gone up the mountain and never come out alive.
No disrespect however anything could have happened for sure.

  29. @denisefrickey5636 on January 14, 2025 at 12:02 am

I love these stories. You go on keeping this history alive. This is one story i never heard of before.

    Thank You so much.

  33. @WildwoodMaebell on January 14, 2025 at 12:10 am

Fascinating story! Thank you. Soooo much history here. Just FYI, there are 2 similar words that get mixed up often times. Calvary, where Christ died, and the cavalry, which are mounted soldiers. Its easy to misuse. I have done it myself in the past.

  34. @butternut741 on January 14, 2025 at 12:12 am
