The Lost Treasures Of the Deep

The Lost Treasures Of the Deep

Join Titanic discoverer Dr. Robert Ballard and his team on their latest undersea adventure! Far beneath the ocean’s surface lies a world of mystery and lost treasure. But the laws of the sea can’t end the debate over who may stake claim to these centuries-old Roman ships, Spanish galleons, and luxury liners.

Join Dr. Robert Ballard and his team of experts as they embark on a remarkable maritime expedition to the Mediterranean Sea where, a half mile underwater, they discover and study ancient shipwrecks. And witness two generations of treasure hunters who make their living finding and selling silver, gold, and other riches from the ocean floor.

You’ll meet these fearless individuals – from explorers and archaeologists who profit from their finds – as they risk everything to uncover the great TREASURES OF THE DEEP.

What a load of crap. Archeologists are some of biggest crooks I have ever met in my career. Not only that, they’re nothing but grave robbers with a government permit. I don’t give a damn if I’ve been in the ground for 5000 years….I don’t want my body dug up and my grave goods pilfered.

Man I do feel bad for the titanic guys but that the same time, all that gold and necklaces and jewelry that one guy found were also peoples belongings and stuff so seems like fair game🤷‍♂️

    1) I think it’s a travesty that we have seen more of the moon than we have of the ocean’s floor. 2) Titanic is a cemetery for 1507 people … Please leave those souls to rest in peace, just like with that other famous shipwreck – the Edmund Fitzgerald – which is now on the bottom of Lake Superior after sinking in the worst storm in decades on the 10th November, 1975. The families of the 29 men who went down with the E.F. took out a court order which stopped all future dives to the wreck in their tracks because there’s still remains down there, although no one has ever been found .. only one body that turned out to be the remains of a sailor who died when a tugboat went down on the same date, BUT IN 1913 !!! (The cold water preserves the bodies as if they’re permanently frozen on the bottom!) We can’t see any human bodies at the wreck of Titanic, either .. but we can certainly see exactly where literally hundreds of people actually fell where they sank .. we can see exactly where they once rested on the Atlantic Ocean floor by where their pairs of leather boots and shoes still lay! Their bodies have long since decayed, but no one can dispute that the wreck site is still a cemetery for more than fifteen hundred people. Give them the respect they deserve and leave them be!!

The biggest and most historical ocean discoveries were made by adventurous independents. Number one is the german sailor in the Philippines who brought up and preserved a ancient boat load of ming dynasty pottery. Now the museums are the biggest treasure hunters. Its still about greed. And these lazy, incompetent, " educated" ivory league people who can’t find anything need laws to stay in the game. The same with fossils, the most complete and largest T rex was found by independents and then was stolen from them by the government. This doco is pure ivory (bush) league propaganda.

Oak Island Treasure is small compared to the deposits of gold & gems in the very small Island about 600 feet from Oak Island to the West of Oak Island at GPS 44°30’49.70"N 64°18’14.90"W (Degrees, minutes, seconds) . On Google Earth notice the center of this tiny island has very little vegetation in the center area of approximately 118 X 160 feet. This precious metal target is as wide and long as 118′ X 160 feet and about 25 feet deep to the top and goes to a depth of 115 feet and so the values are about 90 feet thick. A cubic foot of pure gold weighs 1,200 pounds avoirdupois and holds about 17,496 troy ounces, so current face value at $1,300 per Oz. is $22,744,800

Now if the gold here was solid for 118 X 160 X 90 feet then it would be 1699200 cubic feet. Even being conservative and dividing this by two is staggering. This is not counting the many precious gems there. When one considers the intrinsic value here then it can only rock the imagination from stem to stern. This ranks with some of the Japanese gold deposits in the Philippines. Of course the Archeology and historical value here would be awesome.
I see money being generated off of the movie production and that can be fun, but really that is a minuscule micro amount compared to what I see at the tiny Island.
    Sincerely, Robert

The museums are the new treasure hunters, and they don’t want competition. The Independents were killing it and the lazy, incompetent "educated" ivory leaguer’s had to pass laws to stay in the game. It’s still about greed.

Narrator keeps dumping on those looking for treasure instead of preserving history. In the real world all this costs big money. Who is paying for the feel good preserve history. Takes money.

These comments prove to me why I can’t ever breed. I’ll certainly educate my child and make sure their brain isn’t shrinking into a useless puddle of cells like so many of these commenters, but I don’t want my child to have to live amongst people like these morons commenting. Every generation it just gets worse. In another two generations we may fucking revert back to proto-language.
    You people are literal morons.
It’s astounding how dumbed down the world has become. It’s scary.

Who gives the government the right to take him to court for damaging the sea LOL what a scam, he scrapes the surface of the sea bed not causing any damage or threat to sea life. Just the government wanting a piece of his treasures he finds then sells into cash. Greedy governments.

  47. robert last on December 8, 2022 at 1:21 am

When will people learn. Like those people in California who found all the coins…..keep your mouth shut! If you wanna sell it off do so a little at a time and in several different places.
