So that jar was definitely a kind of hex jar. "So mote it be" is typically a form of manifestation used by witches, translating to "so may it be" or "so must it be". Throwing a hex jar into a river is a way of sending the negative energy away and essentially removing the negative affects from the targeted individual so maybe the maker of the jar disposed of it after getting over the grudge? Either way it’s not the safest way to dispose of a hex jar since it’s just pollution and harms the wildlife.
That must be the best feeling to not only be recognized but to have so much positive support from the people.

Do a treasure hunt in the river Thames
Probably best you don’t open curse bottles and display the contents on youtube for the whole world. Not only are you gonna get a cosmic slap from whichever deity that curse belongs to, but you could potentially out someone in the real world if the objects or handwriting were recognized, putting them in real danger.
