This has been very enlightening. Thank you Jack for filling me in on the Silver mines of the Cochise county mines and the Superstition area mines. I use Bismuth as a support metal when,
I make parts that have open spaces and need further machining the Bismuth is melted and is poured in to solidify the part structure. Bismuth expands upon cooling.

I’ve spent many years in those mountains that I would never trade for anything.

Woodbury staking 118 mining local claims , would suggest that I am correct.

Interesting. Would you have someone loke jeff williams look at the geologicals of the mountains?- to determine what areas people like the dutchman may have found their gold? And if the angle of the sun setting changed 5 degrees? in the last 150 yrs how much would that change the angles of the place you were looking at? An astronomer would be able to tell you how much the sun move and in what direction it moved

  11. @charliepc56 on March 13, 2025 at 1:55 am

People will be telling stories and talking about the Superstitions long after they are gone. Phoenix and the large mines are closing in. 🙁

  12. @rockeytellman7657 on March 13, 2025 at 1:56 am

I believe that Gene "Woodbury" was actually Jesse "Woodson" (James). George was Frank. No matter what photo trail Woodbury may have left in his wake. Jesse had many body doubles, and front men.

  17. @harryballzonyahh on March 13, 2025 at 2:01 am

I’ve crossed those mountains since 1979 wen i was 4 years old going to visit my 2nd and 3rd cousins and Great Aunts and Ukules in Clifton AZ.. Today I’m 49 and still taking that 660 mile trip from Los Angeles where I live and was born and raised to see my second third fourth and fifth cousins still residing in Clifton. Unfortunately their is no Great Aunts or Uncles with us current day. I’ve seen the 10 dFWY go from a 2 lane road threw Phoenix too the parking lot it is today. Every year when I come out, I see how much closer west the 10FWY is getting.. I always dream about finding the lost treasures residing in those mountains hidden creases.

  26. @kppb6844 on March 13, 2025 at 2:07 am

I love the stories. I also like to look back to a time when we didn’t have a big government ruling every part of our lives. You could literally make something of yourself as there was so much opportunity. We are regulated to death in this era.

  27. @toddrodgers5108 on March 13, 2025 at 2:07 am

I like this stuff. Go further out look for the same look for the flats . Good stuff. Still see all of it. Not in it next to the superstitions. Saw it from the trail

  31. @samstewart4807 on March 13, 2025 at 2:12 am

has anyone taken into account the fact that the sun has changed the angle that it sets at over the last 160? yrs. That would change the view you see through those holes in the rocks.

  32. @justme19893 on March 13, 2025 at 2:15 am

The Lazy Mule can’t be the Dutchman’s mine. The ore isn’t even close to the same. It should be on a ridge above the stone cabin cliff dwellings. Somewhere within a 4-5 mile radius maybe? If the arch shines into his shaft then it might be an inclined shaft? Near or on top one of the ridges near Roger’s canyon.

  33. @frankcreamer9270 on March 13, 2025 at 2:16 am

About time someone with some sense can relate facts and history of these mountains.

  34. @davidbreen4727 on March 13, 2025 at 2:16 am

WOW! i do love these stories. i am 67 years old. still pretty healthy. and fit. i am having these dreams of living the rest of my days living like the old miners with the whiskers, the donkey, living in the desert, searching for that mother lode so to speak. i have looked at Nevada, and Arizona, for silver and gold. i don’t want to go under ground, but dig maybe a big hole and follow a vein that way. your stories about the Superstition Mountains is inspiring, but scary, like Sennes gold and the Woodbury’s. just amazes me. i always wonder if all the train holdups, if all the gold from them has always been recovered. i was born 100 years too late.

  40. @michaelfercik3691 on March 13, 2025 at 2:27 am

Most of the old mine owners were secretly dowsing to find their mine’s ore bodies. Today, all of the physics used in dowsing have been reverse engineered and explained in the book, The Art of Dowsing – Separating Science from Superstition ($14.95), which also teaches how to build the modern light weight ball bearing rod for becoming a professional dowser by practicing the book’s dowsing lessons. I hope dowsing enriches your life and have a safe, healthy, good day.

President Grover Cleveland, repealed the Silver Act in an effort to save the Gold Standard and Silver went down to .69 cents an 9unce. He made decisions like his coat tail was on fire and had little regard for who suffered. The 1 decision he made pleases me, he took back 80,000 acres from the Railroads they swindledvthe Government 8nto goving them some years before, the greedy Corporate8sts, and the had free loans for countless tracks East to West.

    He was a PITA!
