As a child my family visited the Petrified Forest. We drove through the park and after leaving we stopped by the side of the road for a leg stretch. I bent down and picked up some pieces of petrified wood right there by the side of the road. They weren’t as big as this but they were pretty.
The petrified forest in AZ has a native American legend about if you remove petrified wood from there it’s cursed and it’s best not to remove it from the land.
I have a delicate, pastel colored slice of a petrified tree, I found amidst an old timer’s rock collection, and beauties needing cutting and mounting.
