TREASURE: Beale Treasure Legend

TREASURE: Beale Treasure Legend

PLEASE SHARE:

According to legend in January 1820 a man calling himself Thomas J. Beale called at the boarding house of Robert Morriss in Lynchburg, VA. He was looking for a place to stay for the winter. In March he departed…only to return 22 months later and again take up lodgings for the winter. Before leaving the following spring he entrusted Robert Morriss with a locked metal box, asking him to keep it safe until he or an agent on his behalf called for it.
2 months later a letter arrived St. Louis, it was from Beale.

Beale advised Morriss that the locked metal box contained valuable papers pertaining to work he and his men were engaged in. He was told that if no one called for box within ten years he was to open it himself. Morris, however, did not open the box until 1845…some 23 years later. Inside were letters and sheets of paper covered in numbers. The legible letters told Beale’s alleged story…a tale of western exploration, great wealth, buried treasure and and long journeys.

In 1885 an account of the Thomas Beale Treasure was published and sold to the public. Ever since then treasure hunters and historians alike have questioned whether or not the Beale Legend is face or fiction.

Thank you for all the stories! I have enjoyed your channel so much. You hear of things happening to people and then you go on with your life.Eric Smiths family and I use to go to church together. My parents still live in Tazewell County and so much has changed since he’s disappeared and I can’t go that way to visit my family without wondering if he’s laying up there in the mountains somewhere. I hate it for his family. His youngest daughter got married this summer and I know she would have loved for him to be there. His daughters loved him very much. Thanks again for all you do getting stories out there. You speak so well and put a lot of heart in your words while sounding professional with a little mysterious thrown in there. I just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! PS would love to be able to watch you more often!

Guys forget about the clues in the Cipher. Get your noses out of the information. GET ON GOOGLE EARTH AND LOOK AT THE GROUND AROUND MONTVALE. ARE YOU SEEING WHAT I’M SEEING???? Very many places that a vault could be hidden on private property and noone knows it’s there. Look,I saw the ground around Montvale and said to myself he hid it and it’s on private property and those people don’t know it’s there. I can tell you it’s in the city limits of Montvale if it’s there and real and I can tell you just by looking at the ground that it’s hid because of the area being soo well hidden by trees and brush. Look I do this for a liveing guys. I’m an expert on ground soil and surface’s. I cannot believe that people don’t realize whats under the ground there due to trees and overgrowth of brush and top soil. It’s hidden on private property and nobody knows it’s even there. This proves that the treasure is real and nobodies looking for it on their own property because the ground hides it. Look you must believe me because I’m an expert on this kind of thing. I’ve done research on ground soil and overgrowth of earth and I can tell you that the surface of the grounds holds the clues to where this treasure is buried because of the ground it’s self being the catalyst. It’s going to be deep in the ground atleast 6 to 10 feet deep soo nobodies going to find it without digging deep in the ground first. It’s there though I can tell you that much. It’s really there.

Beale’s swarthy complexion. Is it possible he was Spanish and could move about Santa Fe freely?

  12. Laura Buehler on May 15, 2023 at 7:36 am

I don’t know how I got unsubscribed, but I’m back! Glad to see your videos again.

  13. Davhuf on May 15, 2023 at 7:41 am

Could Beale have passed for Spanish or even been Spanish? Could Beale and his companions have stolen the gold/silver?

You alluded to it at the beginning, the parallels with oak island are interesting. We can’t prove the oak island story existed before a news article in about 1849 but there are land records before then that match names and make it plausible….

  30. Daniel keene on May 15, 2023 at 7:58 am

I just can’t get past the one big Question. Three men spend several years in Hostile, dangerous country, mining all this Gold and silver, just to bring it back 1500 miles and bury it?! It makes no sense at all. If there was enough treasure to make them all very comfortable, Why didn’t they just cash out? And there is never any mention of the names of Beales’ two partners even though they were everywhere Beale was.

  31. Mona Crute on May 15, 2023 at 7:58 am

I am related to the Beales of Bedford County, through my Paternal Grandmother, Pearl Beale Crute.

Sean! What an intriguing story! Part of the continued interest is that "just given those code books, the treasure could be ours."
You find and present the best stories! Happy and serene New Year to you.

  38. blackbe5 on May 15, 2023 at 8:12 am

From the description of Beale, it sounds like he may have been Mexican (Indigenous). Not too many whites had seen a Mexican, that’s why they said he was dark, but didn’t describe him as a negro.

My Dad’s family wsere mountaineers a little farther south. As I listened to this, a thought came to me. Perhaps the author of the pamphlet wrote it much like Agatha Christie might have. His or her intent may have been to sell it to readers and provide them with entertainment.

Best wishes in your endeavors, Sean! Hope you and your family have a happy and healthy New Year!

    God bless you.

  43. Les Cook on May 15, 2023 at 8:17 am

It wasn’t unusual at the time the pamphlet was printed for fake stories like this to be printed, either as a pamphlet or in a newspaper.
It’s a hoax that has fooled many a treasure hunter.
At least that’s the most likely answer, unless someone actually shows up with the loot.

I live in Durango Colorado. Much lost mine history about. One in particular, was lost, and actually found. By a tourist from texas sitting on a vacation cabin porch, reading a local lost mine book. He literally looked up to a nearby peak, and saw the excact lost mine area description he was reading . Pretty neat.
