Used to go there in the late 70 with my son and pan all day and go home with some gold.
looks like you all had a great time, I was going to stop by, I was on my way home from Maine but the traffic was terrible and it put me way behind so I didn’t get to.

Wish I could have joined the outing. I grew up near there and had no idea about the history. I hope to check it out in a couple of weeks while I’m visiting my folks. Is it worth bring a winch to move boulders?

I was up at Buffalo Brook a handful of times around 1980. If I remember correctly, I didn’t ever see another person up there panning. I always got colour. I wish I had a Garrett Super Sluice pan. It would have gone much faster. I never made it all the way up to the mine. I never could get anyone to come with me. I guess I was the solo weirdo prospector back then.
The old couple I bought my pan & classifier from always prospected in New Hampshire. They had a rock & gem shop in Plainville Ct.
