The machine you found isn’t a cash register but rather an older version of a cheque printer/writer. The weight of the machine comes from the embossing discs within the upper part of it. The drawer area did have a drawer in it which held bankers’ stamps, blank cheques, etc., etc.
The amount of the cheque would be entered by touching each amount of the value…the discs within would rotate to that amount and once the value was entered, the blank cheque blank would be inserted into the small space above the drawer, the user of the machine would then pull the lever forward to emboss (or press into) the blank said amount.
Great find! Clean it, restore it, and print some cheques…lol 😎🤙🤙🤙

So clearly Bondi can’t speak to this as he keeps catching consistently… I was introduced to magnet fishing from a friend in Nov 2021, fished quite a bit around my locale for about 4 months, then got put on the night shift at work and stopped. We always pulled out poundage and some interesting stuff too, fishing urban bridges in Toledo, Ohio, mostly. Got a chance with a week off work to give the old hobby a try a month ago, stopped at four different good spots, and caught absolutely nothing. Quite disheartening. Is magnet fishing a victim of its own success? Just got back on days and fancy trying again, perhaps even taking day trips to Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit, but I’m curious if people are finding most of their old hotspots now fished out. It takes time for the metal to accumulate, and not very many visits to clean most of it out, is my fear. Not sure how to find dump sites where new metal may show up regularly, though if I keep hitting the same bridges in Toledo, there will be new guns on occasion I’m sure. Maybe it’s okay if I downgrade my expectations and get excited finding less? We were pulling hundreds of pounds per day, and by nothing, I mean like 30 pounds the one time I went out last December.
Or maybe you can speak to this, Bondi, as you probably hear from other magnet fishers, are the honey holes drying up in some parts? Any suggestions on other spots to look? The local big river is far too silty, but perhaps docks along Lake Erie, or inland reservoirs? I’ve tried more rural rivers and no luck, my main success has all been old urban dense neighborhoods with a decent creek with bridges. Some success with medium sized town creeks, too.

Thats a really old spot where you was magnet 🧲 fishing , i tell you some gruesome store in the 60s there was a body of a woman laying she was jumped ore trowed out of that window one of the crime stories of old Amsterdam told you it was a famous spot .
