LOL, you pronounced the capitol, Pierre as pee air. I guess it’s OK to screw it up if you’re not familiar with South Dakota. It’s pronounced, ‘peer’. No biggie. Also, I’m dismayed that you only spoke of large commercial operations. Who even cares about that? WHERE can an ordinary guy pan in public streams without staking a claim? Anyone can Google ‘Black Hills gold mines’ and find all that you mentioned. No offense but, your video is basically moot. There’s gold in every state but not necessarily commercial operations. Please point out each river and creek (crick) where gold is most likely to be found. Thanks.

Homestake didn’t shut down until 2002, also neat fact it was the longest continuously running Gold mine in American history. Homestake was also founded by George Hearst father of newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst. Also the gold rush started in ’76. That’s why you’ll notice ’76 is fairly common in Deadwood such as the Days of ’76 museum. As a local just had to point out those few corrections otherwise great video!

I know you don’t know me from Adam but if you ever find yourself in Custer SD area, I live up on the Elliott Road and I just recently found a vein 4 foot wide of quartz and gold all through it. Shh.. don’t tell no one else. The claim has been filed and I’m waiting for the state to stop dragging their feet. I could have just free gold but then so could everyone else. There’s an old mine not to far away that’s historical and is still found on the maps but has been closed down for many moons. Now want I did was look at the usbs maps and right almost perfectly in line with that old mine I went south and wouldn’t you know it I found an outcrop of quartz, pegmatite, almost any wholly crystalline igneous rock that is at least in part very coarse grained, the major constituents of which include minerals typically found in ordinary igneous rocks and in which extreme textural variations, especially in grain size, are characteristic, granite mixed as well.
No just south of the claim is another vein/old gold and galena mine in line with the vein I found, only it’s a quarter to eighth mile away but in line with the mine to the North.
Here’s the interesting part to all my story.
You’re gonna laugh and it’s okay.
    I have zero experience
    I have zero equipment
I have a friend who gave me a book on prospecting and one day I decided to read it.
I found what that book was talking about.
They say all the BIG gold is already found.
I don’t believe it for one second.
I’m not bragging about it and I’m sure not gonna count my chicks before they hatch.
It’s just that to me in what I see and it isn’t always perfect, I see it as if that vein runs a long ways across at least 4 sections of mountains and valleys because when I look on the map it lines up damn near perfect. Almost to perfect!
I have to be sure and I could be powerfully mistaken but it sure is some pretty rocks that come from that spot.
I’ll send samples soon and that will tell me if it’s leveright or diggeright. 🤞👋🏻

Hey Jess! I live in Aberdeen SD, I own a restaurant so I never have time to travel but I’m wondering if I can find any kind gold around around Aberdeen. Moccasin Creek or James River maybe? Or is it going to be a waste of time ha. Nobody around here knows if gold has ever been found around the Aberdeen area. Thanks!
