This week’s fun outdoor adventure is…. a Wisconsin Northwoods treasure hunt! We are hiking the Quartz Hill Trail to McCaslin Mountain to search for beautiful gems. Quartz crystal, strawberry quartz and other treasures. Quartz Hill Trail is located just south of Carter, Wisconsin on Hwy. 32.
This is a fairly short but scenic hiking trail but it is pretty rugged and mostly uphill. Enjoy a beautiful hiking adventure to search for treasure.

What a great trail! Coffee break! Is your babbling brook dry?? There it is! .4 of a mile just turned into an all day adventure. LOL What a great rock hunting adventure! We have lots of quartzsite here in Tennessee, but not sure if I have seen strawberry. Very pretty! I love the Pyrite. I was in 7th grade and our science teacher introduced us to fool’s gold 🙂 There was a new highway cut through a small mountain around the lake that we lived near, and he said there was Pyrite there. I convinced my parents to take me there. And we found a few pieces of Pyrite 🙂 You have some great finds. Love it!

Cool area for rock hounding. We have a few of those around here. Geode beds and Topaz Mountain. It is fun to explore and find neat rocks. I always liked finding the pyrite as a kid because it was like finding gold or silver. Pretty cool. Take care.

What a beautiful walk through the woods. The scenery with all the trees and rocks and streams is gorgeous. You got a good haul to take home. It is too bad they won’t let you cut your own quartz crystals off the rocks. I would be interested in seeing how one goes about doing that. And I did get the Deliverance reference. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure!

US Forest Service says no digging/collecting allowed. So, not even picking up any. Some people ruined things, so now you can’t. Check the website for the 2021 information. Google “quartz hill trail”
