Someday one Little Rock is going to fall in the whole thing’s going to come down. Then they’ll only be a third of a mountain.

This is just about in my backyard! Those little packrats are super cute but they are smelly little guys.

  14. Platform Strange on October 2, 2022 at 9:01 am

We thank you for being so mental Frank.
Where I live in uk, Kent. Used to have quite a few coal mines, all long collapsed or shafts sealed.
We’re also surrounded by bats, mainly pipistrelles.

  15. Danny Johnson on October 2, 2022 at 9:05 am

As always a great watch Frank. That guy didn’t like the idea of the log as raft in the water lol, I would have said the same, let’s get a boat lol, good on him for keeping up with you though! Thanks for the video

Remember rule #1 keep the nuts dry.

  17. Ben Bruland on October 2, 2022 at 9:08 am

I know in modern mines, where people you can easily run into some extremely unpleasant men with guns. Is that the case with some of these old mines too?

  18. Peter on October 2, 2022 at 9:09 am

It would be cool if you could get together with other mine exploring channels who operate in the areas you’re visiting.

  19. Cutthroat Mc Rage on October 2, 2022 at 9:09 am

Wow Frank talk about swiss cheese that mountain so hollow I wouldn’t be to surprised that if ya slapped it with a hammer it would ring lol … great vid Brother 🙂 TY 😉

  20. ROBERT snyder on October 2, 2022 at 9:13 am

The ore in this mine is typical of the area, silver gold lead and zinc.

Frank, this town made the town Of Orient. The local tavern made a good steak dinner.

  27. Stinger Bee on October 2, 2022 at 9:19 am

In the US, property surveys are public record. You don’t have to guess or assume if the mine is on private property. If it were my property on which you were trespassing, this video would be the evidence I provided to the Sheriff’s deputy sent to serve you with a trespass warning/warrant. Or you could just ask me and I would give you permission after you signed a waiver of liability.

20:56 I can show you Free Mill Gold that you can see with the Naked Eye in Several Oregon Gold Mines, one that I owned had what is called Wire Gold. The Greenback Mine where I was a Powder Monkey and Pneumatic Tram Operator has Gold Veins in Quarts that I have personally seen as wide as half inch of Gold Stringer Veins in Quartz, I believe this Mine is still in Operation.
This Mine you are showing now from what I can see has Gypsum, Cinnabar, Copper, and the Basalt looks to contain both Silver and Gold Ore, talk about Pay Dirt, no wonder it looks like Swiss Cheese in there!

  29. ROBERT snyder on October 2, 2022 at 9:22 am

Frank, if this is the "First Thought Mine" across the Kettle river from Orient then we were there in 2002 and 2003 and the private property owner below the mine told us it was under claim by some big company that was going to go in and take the ore that was not mined.

  30. Evanscreek Brahman on October 2, 2022 at 9:22 am

You looked like a couple of Bush-whackers. Turns out it’s not a bad look, goes well with all that square-set and swiss-cheese ;>

  32. Rob Leppala on October 2, 2022 at 9:22 am

Hello Frank..has ever a collapse happen near you?

  33. Steve on October 2, 2022 at 9:23 am

God, this brings me back! When I was 7 or 8, back in ’08-09ish, I went exploring around the whole Ruby Hill area. There’s some crazy mines up there, was my first time seeing a straight vertical shaft in person and I’ll never forget the feeling of just looking down into the seemingly infinite darkness, incredibly cool. Great video, cool seeing people exploring sites like these!

  34. Carson Vandegriffe on October 2, 2022 at 9:27 am

There are a bunch of smaller adits around that area. Too bad they are barred off 🙁

  35. BC Mine Research on October 2, 2022 at 9:30 am

Once again, Frank takes exploring abandoned mines to a whole new "level".

  36. Dieseling123 on October 2, 2022 at 9:30 am

    Congrats on the 100K Frank!

  37. Z00K33P3r Gaming on October 2, 2022 at 9:30 am

If you cross reference blm land with mines you should find lots of open ones. Please be careful not to spread whitenose from the bats. If you don’t know what it looks like, please find out so you can decontaminate your stuff after you leave the mine.

  38. Sean Not-telling on October 2, 2022 at 9:32 am

What ore were they taking out of this one? Also did you ever make it over to the mines up by Crystal Mt ski resort?

  39. ROBERT snyder on October 2, 2022 at 9:32 am

Frank, my mining partner and I had claims not too far from here.. I could show you a mine in the area that my partner Mark and I went about 3/4 mile back into but the air got thin and we left.

  40. 5050 ODDZ PROSPECTING on October 2, 2022 at 9:33 am

930 in, bats catching bugs. He knows your there but not really worried about you, can’t see you. Hears you. Your welcome,
    Captain Obvious out 😅

Like wondering thru a giant ant farm!

  42. Sue Girling on October 2, 2022 at 9:33 am

Hi Frank, they didn’t leave much room for the mountain with all of those holes and drifts lol, either that or they wanted to make sure the mine was aerated. A very cool explore but I think I’m going to nickname you Billy after a billy goat lmao. xx

  43. SpectrumRob on October 2, 2022 at 9:34 am

Cool one Frank. Is this high altitude because you are really huffin and puffin?

  44. Jay M on October 2, 2022 at 9:36 am

    Can’t wait for Idaho!

  45. Jimiplayscobo on October 2, 2022 at 9:36 am

I think you need a walkie talkie for the people that aren’t as ambitious as you are. Safer when exploring with another person but also can be a drag if they can’t keep up or don’t want to get dirty. Reminds me of picking shrooms in Mission BC with two women and myself. Just when we started to find them it’s like can we go home now i’m like are you serious 🙂 Peace

  46. jeepejeep on October 2, 2022 at 9:37 am

That was a really interesting mine. It seemed to go in every direction and many levels. Lots of openings all over. Cool stuff.
Send the heavy fella through first, smart man! Bats & Rats but no mine cats. Get some scuba gear and get in that water, Frank! Huge and intricate mine, thanks for taking us along! Glad you still have your nut sack! HA!

  47. oxskirra on October 2, 2022 at 9:37 am

Wow so much square set in that mine. Really old, too bad all the artifacts are probably underwater. Could always go diving for them lol. Be safe Frank.

  48. TBI Firefighter on October 2, 2022 at 9:39 am

Frank I just sent you an email about some Large Mines I Inspected here in Southern Oregon that you might like to Explore.
As a former Lode Mine Owner I find that Keep Out Signs are worthless but Poisonous Gas Signs do the trick!
