HIDDEN TREASURE: Race Cars & Relics at a Historic Drag Strip in Georgia

HIDDEN TREASURE: Race Cars & Relics at a Historic Drag Strip in Georgia

We go exploring in the woods and find hidden treasure at an old race track in Georgia. The Paradise Drag Strip property contains the remains of retired race cars and other old cars in the woods nearby. The track was built in 1961 by Otto Timms and continues on today with a great following of weekly racers. It’s an awesome place with TONS of history, and it just happens to be loaded with automotive treasures.

In this video, you’ll see a few abandoned race cars, a Pro Street Firebird that’s now pretty famous, and a CRAZY Corvette funny car tractor puller. As we hike into the woods, we find even more hidden treasure…dozens of cars packed away with trees growing through them and all around them. Some of the highlights include a 1957 Ford Ranch Wagon with old “Paradise Drag Strip” lettering on it, a neglected Nova drag car, several Tri-Five Chevys and more!

I just came across this video, and love it. Like a trip back in history. I live in GA and hope that Paradise drag strip stays open for a good long time.

I wish I could find a buildable 64 fairlane , My daddy had one . That squarebody stepside truck looks like it could be put back on the road . I may have to visit this dragstrip since the NHRA sold the Atlanta dragway in Commerce

  15. HOKE POKE on January 1, 2023 at 3:29 am

That is a shame to see all of those cars setting there in the bushes. Wish they were here in New Mexico, there would be way less bush and rust. Like my momma used to say, wish in one hand and spit in the other and see which one fills up first.

  16. G Myers on January 1, 2023 at 3:29 am

Salvage the good parts and sell them at your swap meet and donate the money back to the track.

Imagine if you could have shown these pictures to the people who bought these cars new, or built them up for the strip, and been able to say ‘this is where your car is going to end up.’

  21. KUSTOM FAB on January 1, 2023 at 3:37 am

Omg!! I have the same photo album that has race cars in it. I’m from Brewton Alabama and I always went to Atmore Dragway in Atmore Alabama. Went to Baker Drag-strip but it has been closed for years. Are you from Georgia? Have you ever heard of the 1957 Chevy Revenuer III?

The little pink rear end chopped in half car is a Triumph Herald rear end. Wow to see one of those in the middle of no where is quite extrodanary . They are an English car designed by Italian stylist Michelotti. Cool little cars

  27. Richard Warwick on January 1, 2023 at 3:41 am

The vette reminds me budwiser sponsered pulling events back in the 80s and they had a truck that pull as well

  28. Jack Gilreath on January 1, 2023 at 3:42 am

The sad thing is that most of those cars would have been easily fixable when they were parked & left to rot.

  29. Caller # 9 on January 1, 2023 at 3:42 am

It’s amazing back then cars body styles changed every 1 or 2 tears and someone can tell the years by the style, now cars have the same body for 10 or more years ,GOOD VIDEO!!

  35. darryl campbell on January 1, 2023 at 3:53 am

Next to the chevy at 7.26 is the pink front end of the Herald. These cars had flip front ends. really cool for 60s designed cars.

  36. That1guy81 on January 1, 2023 at 3:55 am

They should let people come save those cars from rotting away to nothing even sell them I just hate seeing old rigs return to the earth some look salvageable

  37. Justthatguy420 on January 1, 2023 at 3:55 am

Who would put the car at 0:02 in the woods. Easily finished and would be a nice little bracket car. Square tube chassis and roll cage and back half

  38. OGRocker on January 1, 2023 at 3:55 am

Dang, send me the glass out of that 57, they’ll fit my Ranchero project…lol. 😎

  39. Cheesus Rice on January 1, 2023 at 3:55 am

Man I’d love to have that old T-Bird! I live about 2 hours from the track. I need to go check the place out.

  40. RICH DISCOVERIES on January 1, 2023 at 3:57 am

All those cars just left in time. Looks like someone had a bad day in that lower GTO, that’s a shame.
And as for the drag cars racing in the background, I think it just adds to the experience. The sounds that some of these cars may have experienced in their day

  41. Chad Rossiter on January 1, 2023 at 3:57 am

Take the camaro’s body and put it on the race car chassis
