I was reading on another website which stated that Corp. Yokum was given an order to make sure all of the African Americans living on Folly Island were delivered to the mainland, so the old woman Corp. Yokum spoke to was Black.

I remember the Folly Island Ghost Pirate treasure story from an excellent book by Nancy Roberts. "Ghost Tales Of South Carolina" k
or something similar. I’ve got an autographed copy (soft back) around here somewhere that I purchased when she did a presentation at my school when I was in 3rd grade. Very first book ever bought myself. Really brings back the most memories. Wow! Where the Hell has damn near half a century done gone and run off to?!?

So glad the army had moved on from wool by the time I came along, haha.
