I think that tear drop button is from a woman’s dress. My grandma had a dress of her mother’s that had similar-ish buttons on the outer coat

  4. Connor Duquette on October 12, 2022 at 9:12 am

Hey, I was wondering if you found anything on that teardrop button? Very interesting piece!

Your biggest luck is,that if something falls to the bodom of a forest-you dont hear it!

I am 70 with Pulmonary Fibrosis. I can’t explore anymore. Thank you for taking me along on your adventures. Love how you really take it slow and let us watch as you uncover and reveal what you find. Very well done.

  8. Richard Chambers on October 12, 2022 at 9:20 am

what was value of fugio? one of those things you never thought to find

  9. Stan Tilton on October 12, 2022 at 9:20 am

Amazing to find the fugio. One thing you have not mentioned. Often there was a common landing spot for loggers. They swapped stories, ate meals, tended horses and gear. Some even had cook shacks with full time cooks. They were often in the woods all winter because it was too far in for travel. A different world than today for sure. Very cool to see what you find.

Please comment on why you find so many copper coins, but no silver coins.

  11. memorylaine on October 12, 2022 at 9:23 am

The fugio is awesome! Good for you! Yay

Good stuff Brad. I better be careful or you might get me out detecting! I bought a trident viper not knowing a thing about any metal detectors, still don’t. My passion is at the river prospecting for gold. And, getting my new invention out into the public.
You banner looks like my area, if that’s Killington Mountain in the background.

  13. Dennis Mitchell on October 12, 2022 at 9:26 am

Buttons, coins and shoe buckles. Men used to fight to solve disputes. Grab each other- go to the ground while spilling from their pockets and popping buttons off their clothes and sometimes stomp and kick one another (broken shoe buckles) MYSTERY SOLVED ! ! And yes- sometimes bullets and musket balls.

  14. Richard G. Abbenbroek on October 12, 2022 at 9:26 am

Do you ever find any Brown Bess Bayonets or French coinage?

Since some people want to know why you don’t dig up all signals you should make a video of all beeps picked up to show people

  28. Vic McLaglen on October 12, 2022 at 9:48 am

11:40 Had no idea what a Fugio was but when I saw "Mind Your Business" Ben Franklin immediately came to me. Definitely a phrase straight from him. That and the odd name; he had his "Junto" club in his younger days as well.

  37. Lynne S on October 12, 2022 at 9:57 am

The metal wears out the thread and the button falls off

  38. C S on October 12, 2022 at 10:00 am

I’d like to know the comments of land owners and if they r generous. I assume most do not see the importance of the finds.

  39. jeffrey jefferton on October 12, 2022 at 10:01 am

amazing illuminati symbolism on that coin, hell that could have been one of the old masonic lodges way out in the sticks there… amazing vids young man, you ever come across any petroglyphs etc.?

  40. Jon L on October 12, 2022 at 10:01 am

There was still a round looking thing in that last hole with the "fujio" coin in it. re-check that spot and you might have a 2nd one. right where the other coin was… https://youtu.be/nn5a94SrSmU?t=664

  41. Sarah Strong on October 12, 2022 at 10:03 am

Thankyou for sharing. Another lovely day in the woods. Good question about how so many buttons got lost though the shank is intact? I think maybe the thread may not always have been of consistant quality. Maybe the thread had weaker parts to it, if it was not of such consistant thickness or not so consistantly spun? Also maybe some shanks had a rougher edge that abraided the thread over time. Also maybe thread was an expensive item to buy & so people did not like to use very much on each button as they had to ration out what they had, though that could turn out to be a false economy.. It might have been a long walk to the nearest shop to buy more.
One thing that does strike me is that a lot of the time they would have been carrying things. If you were carrying a big bundle of firewood, against your front, coat buttons could get caught & pulled off, especially if it was heavy. If they tied a rope around the firewood & put it over their shoulder then every time they adjusted the bundle the rope could catch a button & pull it off. They would not be able to be too mindful of their buttons if they were struggling along with a heavy load.

  42. Rob Rau on October 12, 2022 at 10:03 am

To answer your question about how the buttons get lost so easily on the fancier coats they were never sewed to the coat. The button Shanks poked through small holes in the coat and then a ribbon or string ran down through all of the buttons. This way they could change their buttons and use different buttons with different coats.

Brad your adventures are so amazing, informational and inspiring. Your so lucky to have so much access to so many great properties and sites. I so enjoy stepping back into time with you with every dig. I wish you would do a garbage dig video just to show all the crap targets you find and I’m sure you will find some treasures along the way.
