So I own a bunch a land and Airbnb near current river. I wonder if I should start pannin up stream like sinkin creek or down stream where most all the pristine water converges after coming out of numerous springs, caves etc. like near blue spring maybe. Ever pan out this way ?

It’s hard to tell if you’re using the pump right in the video but the most efficient way to use those hand dredges to keep the heavier material from falling out you’re supposed to pull it about 3/4 and use that last 1/4 pull when you pull it out the water and move it to the pan. That way it’s still sucking up and no material will fall out. Unless that hand dredge has some kind of mechanism inside of it that doesn’t let anything fall out which is doubtful since they’re pretty simple PVC pumps usually. Hope this helps. Keep up the great work Kyle, Thanks!

Any reason you don’t use a classifier?

  40. Roger Claiborne on September 6, 2022 at 4:56 pm

Sometimes iron stones contain super gene enrichments of gold. With Missouri’s history of meteor craters and the Ozarks which once contained gold it might be interesting to crush some of that hematite to see if the gold could be washing out of it as it gets eroded down in that creek. I know in the Ozarks copper, silver and some gold is associated with hematite veins and exposures.

How do you prefer to dress when prospecting or artifact hunting…. in a bathing suit? or regular clothes? or with waders? what might be the benefits of those different ways of dressing for these activities where you, as Jeff Williams says "going to get wet" lol… since it was raining at the time of this video, did you not bother with the waders since they would fill up anyways? also, have you ever considered keeping your phone, wallet, and keys, in a water-proof bag of some sort, in case of accidental submergence like that one time before?
