Hembrillo Basin and Victorio Peak Quick Tour

Hembrillo Basin and Victorio Peak Quick Tour

The site of one of the better known, and perhaps the largest, land-based treasures ever recovered or accessed in the US is in the State of New Mexico, now on White Sands Missile Range (*No Public Access). For the full story see the Gold House series of books – this little vid is just intended to give you some geographic orientation and a few tidbits that may or may not come up elsewhere.

Excellent! That was great, to see the topography like that, I didn’t realise the undergound system travelled beyond the base of Victorio Peak and that Bloody Hands was not directly at the Peak site. As an aside I saw somewhere (might have been an Amazon review) where Mr Delonas talks about a series on the whole VP ordeal, I wonder if that will come to fruition… would be amazing. But again loved the video, thanks for making it!

We have tales of our great great grandfather Victorio raiding and obtaining gold, which Apaches saw as worthless. My other great great grandfather was Mangas Coloradas and am also great great grandson of Chiricahua Apache US Scouts Charles Martine Sr and Paul Guydelkon Sr.

My grandmother Evelyn Martine was the last Chiricahua Apache prisoner of war born in captivity in Ft Sill, Oklahoma in 1912. The Chiricahua were POWs for 27 years released in 1913 and a majority of the Chiricahua moved to Mescalero in 1913.

If there was gold buried there then the Indians buried gold in surrounding mountains

Make sure everyone catches the new Discovery Channel show on Friday nights . . . Gold, Lies, and Videotape. It’s about the Noss family and the gold.
