As long as the world continue to ignore the ‘White elephant’ in everyone’s backyard, our world is destined to become the Borg from Star Trek. Pointless, destructive and soulless.

Black people can relate. I feel my identity is so lost I can only cling to a color. I hate cruel colonialism and white washing! It’s okay to be proud of your skin! Whether in Mexico they speak Spanish from their oppressors in Spain. Brazilians speak Portuguese from their oppressors in Portugal. The Haitians speak French! The Fujians, New Zealanders, Australians etc etc!!!! Across cultures darker people suffer most, why! Because they don’t want you to realize your strength is like a wild horse. Don’t let them keep your spirit caged like a tamed horse! “Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere!” – MLK Jr. We need to fight back against the brainwashing /white washing media that teaches us to hate our skin!

Look for , watch the documentary " Robinson Crusader" for an accurate portrayal of the Island of Nihau told by the owners of it the Robinson family descendents .

A Japanese pilot actually crash landed on Niihau after the Pearl Harbor attacks. He was taken in by a Japanese man living on the island. When the residents learned of the attack and were deciding what to do with him, the pilot convinced the Japanese villager to help him escape. They overpowered the man sent to guard the pilot and took a few villagers hostage, the pilot threatening to kill them all if his confiscated papers were not returned. A particularly large Hawaiian man and his wife resisted and a bloody brawl ensued which ended with the Hawaiian man’s wife bashing the pilots skull in with a rock and the Japanese villager shooting himself. The incident added to the sense that Japanese Americans could not be trusted and was used to justify their internment during the war.

This Island should remain the way it is, the tourist industry is destroying all the other islands, preserve the beauty……

  13. wambulance on August 15, 2022 at 4:19 pm

The locals there should be forbidden to visit other places, since they’re so unwelcoming. I’m sure they would consider that unfair…
Isn’t it owned by a howlie?
Also looking at census information, almost all residents voted for Donald Trump. Really doing God’s work out there… Why are they even allowed to vote?

As a Kaua’i resident, I’ll add that there are some mistakes in this story. Yes, polio was a reason for initially stopping traffic to Ni’ihau, but the lasting reason for the Robinson’s isolation of their property has been that it would never meet public health code for it’s water supply. Warren Robinson, the eldest brother, describer Ni’ihau as a "desert surronded by ocean." Back when about 140 people lived there (25 years ago), everyone caught rain water and used cheesecloths over faucets to catch the bugs. Now only 36 people are living there, and most of those are involved with tending the eland (huge, horned African mammals that Bruce Robinson bought from an overwhelmed rancher on Big Island) which are hunted by those willing to pay the expensive fee to fly on the Robinson’s copter and shoot the game on the uninhabited side of the island. Also, the Ni’ihauans don’t speak the Hawaiian that the rest of us learned; they speak Ni’ihauan Hawaiian which uses ‘T’s in place of ‘K’s and has some different syntax.

  19. Ukulele Mikele on August 15, 2022 at 4:26 pm

They avoided the polio epidemic back in the 1950s; I wonder how Niihau fared with the covid-19?

  20. Epic Jackson on August 15, 2022 at 4:27 pm

Quick question, why were the Hawaiians of yesterday way darker than the ones of today?

So it’s OK for the Robinson to be there but no one else could. They themselves are the only capable savior of Island culture. BS

anywhere that humans keep off will remain beautiful, unspoiled and magical. they planted trees on island and destroyed its natural look, so how is it so good? it should have remained the way it was created, humans keep destroying and changing natural creations.

  35. Dana Brittany Kanalani on August 15, 2022 at 4:51 pm

Being from Kauai I can say the same it’s always been there. It’s always been off limits to most of us who are from there. So it’s always been interesting.

  36. Kamal Saigal on August 15, 2022 at 4:51 pm

5:10 looks like an Indian market LOL! It’s definitely not from Ni’ihau!

  45. J Coleridge on August 15, 2022 at 4:58 pm

Maybe I missed this, but I really hope the Robinsons have given, or at the very least sold or leased, the homes to the residents. Providing them housing is great, but the stipulation that they can be evicted at any time is pretty harsh. Also, I can’t imagine the requirement to go to church each Sunday is still enforced. Hope not.

  46. I killed gaia on August 15, 2022 at 4:59 pm

  49. G W on August 15, 2022 at 5:01 pm

So the owner of the plantation banned tourism? And make them go to church and keep the residents dont believe in a 2nd amendment? There’s no alcohol or tobacco? Sounds like they’re slave owners

  50. Coolnicknameguy on August 15, 2022 at 5:02 pm

real reason you cant go there is all the evidence of romans there before hawaiians and they trying to hide the fact that king kamehameha stole his hat from a legionnaire he killed and who’s land he stole. Can’t push the liberal white hate agenda if it turns out whites where on Hawaii 1st and the Polynesians killed them and took their land…
