Hello, I grew up on “elm creek”. I’ve done a ton of detecting around the north Texas area. My grandfather had told my uncles about a story very similar story growing up. The only variation of the story is that the men were not correct on their location and that they had actually been farther north on a different creek and that they marked the gold with a hex battled rifle jammed into the fork of a tree. My grandfather helped with the construction of Lake Texoma and a coworker of his had mentioned hearing about a tree that had been bulldozed during the clearing for the lake that had a hex battle sticking out of the trunk. I’ve been interested in this story for my entire life so I enjoyed the video!

I’m a Garrett with a Garrett. And I live in Dallas. Been to the site. No joke, it is impossible to get up in there. The trees and vines and brush and thorns are so thick that it’s unbelievable. It would take some really heavy equipment to move all that stuff. Then a big nasty drop off to the river. And that section is really long in a city type atmosphere with private land and shops and nurserys everwhere. All gated off. I gave up after about 20 minutes.
