For my recent Like a Local series with The Kansas City Star, local readers requested I spelunk into The Steamboat Arabia Museum which houses an immense collection of Pre-Civil War artifacts including clothes, tools, and preserved foods still in their jars (watch to hear the story about how someone ate a 130-year-old pickle)!
Not only does the museum tell the story of life in 1860’s Kansas City, it also tells the story of the average guys who excavated the ship — one of whom I got to interview for this story!
