Beautiful place, but hard to call that tiny little thing a cave. But I guess technically it is. Maybe. Ha ha ha

Over here on my side of the state it’s Robber Lewis the Robin Hood of Pennsylvania and Braddock’s treasure among others.

Ive come across little caves like this before and I always wonder who seeked shelter in them thruout all the centuries, wish we could see back thru the life of the cave. You can picture an ancient person crouched in same spot you are, maybe waiting out a rainstorm.

I love this park, a girl from my highschool jumped to her death here I believe in 2009 or 2010. It was such a tragic day in the community, so confusing why she choose such a brutal way to go. She jumped right off the cliff :'(

  20. babyrazor on October 31, 2022 at 7:41 am

Doan gang, 5 brothers 1 cousin and some hanger ons occasionally. 1 was shot, 2 hung, 1 escaped n 2 pardoned. If they buried anything you can bet the survivors dug it up. But ya never know.

  21. Michael Goyette on October 31, 2022 at 7:42 am

At the end of the video…. high rocks….. I rock climbed a lot of that

  22. Kurt Foulke on October 31, 2022 at 7:43 am

I know the area well & you did a great job navigating your way around the valley. A couple of the Doans are burried nearby at the Plumstead Friends Meeting Cemetary (outside of the back wall)

  23. Edith Davis on October 31, 2022 at 7:43 am

Beautiful place.thank you for the experience of seeing such a beautiful place.
Doan gang and their caves sounds like the James gang, if rumors were true and they slept in as many places as said, they wouldn’t have had time to rob trains and coaches.

  24. MAVERICK 120 Adventures on October 31, 2022 at 7:44 am

When we were in high school we had a doubled-up rope with knots in it that took up the entire back of a van we would walk up to the high rocks throw it over the edge and put our leather gloves on ready for a fun climb. The rock-climbing guys would tell us we were crazy and we were not well equipped we would always say "what am I going to let go of the Rope" hahaha so young and crazy we where.

  31. bigazyahed on October 31, 2022 at 7:51 am

Couple of things: Doan’s Cave is not in Ralph Stover SP, it’s on Haycock Mt, on private land. I found it over 35 years ago but didn’t have the equipment (or knowledge of the history then) to explore it fully. Contact me if you want the exact location and how I know it was Doan’s Cave. You’ll find it…interesting. To put it mildly.
Also, that albino cannibal nonsense wasn’t on Haycock Mt, that was on Ghost Mt in nearby Pleasant Valley east of Rt 212. There was indeed a family of albinos living there in the 60’s-70’s. They were a little weird, but not cannibals.
LOL! No more than any other white folks, any way.
I was told one of the dogs in the original ‘Lassie’ TV series is buried up on Ghost Mt. That, I don’t know for sure is true.
Cool vids, man! Thanks for sharing!

  32. zuljin20002000 on October 31, 2022 at 7:52 am

At 5:36 right where you are standing, that’s where I caught a 12 inch rainbow trout when I was a kid with my dad. I remember an albino catfish there too. Some dude across the river pulled in a huge catfish. That scenery totally brought me back haha.

  33. Karen Packer on October 31, 2022 at 7:53 am

Gorgeous park! Glad you found the cave. Thanks for the history.

  34. Bee Bob on October 31, 2022 at 7:53 am

Bucks County’s treasure is its rich history. We’ve got Revolutionary parks, and a lot of colonial history. People should take a weeks vacation and explore our beautiful county.Next time you’re in the area go to our ringing rock park. Bring a hammer and tap on the rocks. You’ll get a cool sound. Don’t beat on them or you might break them

  35. gayle marie on October 31, 2022 at 7:54 am

Thank you for this! I didn’t come here to find this but I’m going to have to check it out. We also lost our youngest son to drugs. ;(

You’re awesome! I live in Beaver Springs, PA. My mom was always super into treasure hunting and metal detecting when I was growing up. Her and I will go for a treasure hunting adventure soon.

You always find the best locations, and give the best history lessons!

  38. Polymath Perspective on October 31, 2022 at 7:55 am

The area is correct in the 45 acre small park but the location of the old cabin was near the cave which was formed on a bend in the creek near cliffs. If you find the cave, a metal detector can find the buried cache near to this cave.

  39. Beverly Kennedy on October 31, 2022 at 7:57 am

Hi, I’m glad. You found the cave you were looking for. Who knows maybe that little hole is hiding a cloth bag full of silver coins just saying would that not be great?your very interesting and I love your videos .heard you mention RAIN 🌧 on the way . Heck it wouldn’t be Rainsylvania with out near everyday letting off the stuff , Have you ever been to Penn cave and wildlife park? It makes for a nice day my grandson and I spent the day there this past summer we both enjoyed it a lot .

I believe the second Doan cave you described as being sealed with a rock is near the Centre Bridge Inn, a few miles south on River Road..
