Lost World of the Maya (Full Episode) | National Geographic

The Maya – their soaring pyramids, monumental cities and mythical mastery of astronomy and mathematics have captured our imaginations and spurred generations of explorers into the jungles of Central America on a quest to understand them. Lost World of the Maya surveys their dramatic rise to prominence in the ‘pre-classic era’ of the Maya as well as new evidence of the collapse of their civilization in the 800-900’s AD. How are these pastoral people going to build 500 feet pyramids 😄 it’s a joke to believe this! ET s built these as bases from local material maybe a century before and left due to some event or just moved their base and these people started using these majestic buildings as Temples using their meagre knowledge ..it could also be a very developed earth civilisation that perishedbefire the flood but aliens seem more plausible as masked entities, aeroplanes and rocket like things are carved onnthese temple walls plus Nazca lines run for 100s of kms and look like jet engine dirt tracks

It is time to stop calling Yucatán Peninsula, Southeast or Southwest of Mexico, Central America. Mexico, geographycally is not in Central America. Now, it is recognized that it is more in North America. Where is the knowledge of National Geography on GEOGRAPHY

It would really be great if the native Americans would build some new temples in addition to the ancient ones of the civilizations of the Maya-, Aztec-, Inca-, Olmec-, Muisca-, Cahokia etc.

Not with human sacrifices of course, but rather with what is the most sacred to the native American people of both North-, Central-, and South America, which seems to be nature itself with all the creatures in it and the human relationship to nature.

It would have an amazing effect on the identity of all the native American peoples, and the entire world needs their influence because of their closeness to nature.

Enjoyed it, but realize a lot of it is assumption. Learned assumptions, to be sure, but not strictly fact. We need a time machine!

So under the Yucatán there was an advanced civilization. People from the south migrated upwards and the civilization is no more. History does repeat itself.

Theres a place in maine where once a year lightning bugs mate. Its the stars on earth. Theres a place in Spain where dragonflies by the millions mate and die. I remember walking to school crunching them like puddles of a hard rain. Thanks for the vid. Being open and sharing is something that all of us should do.

I love the history of the Mayas, the Incas etc. But I think there can be no comparisons at all with the eastern hemisphere civilizations. The gap is immense any way one might see it: artistically, scientifcally, philosophically, politically, etc. I mean, the Greek philosophers… Plato, Socrates, Aristotle… Democritus the 5th c. BC found the atomic hypothesis that everything is made of atoms and Aristotle the 4th c. BC wrote works on logic, physics, biology, psychology, metaphysics, he wrote political philosophy, the constitution of the Athenians, Archimedes the 3rd BC was setting the basis for integral calculus and these are only few of only the Greeks; the list is endless. There can be no comparisons.

Guatemala has a beautiful Ancient Culture and the Ruins are fabulous to look upon. Guatemala is the only country in middle America that still has Indigenous people who wear their clothes. Guatemala is the only country that did not forbid the Indigenous people to freely speak their Dialects.
