Multifarious Mudlarking and Treasure Hunting in New Jersey

#mudlarking #metaldetecting #bottlecollecting
We had an amazing week of treasure hunting. First off we received our first ever sponsored piece of equipment. A sand scoop , carbon fiber pole and finds bag from the CKG company. We also blew past the 2000 subscriber count. Last but not least we unearthed our first ever seated liberty quarter along with many other amazing finds. Here is the link to this amazing company that sponsored us.

The bottle from Becker &Sons Little Ferry…it was a picnic grove on Washington Ave. Not sure the years but before I was born 20s 30s perhaps older. Then when I grew up there it was just a bar. Now garden apartments.

Gosh you find such fascinating things! I love all those metal bits and bobs (and the coins of course!) but my favourite is the cute little bottle at the end. I’m so envious. The cross with metal and wood is from the bottom of rosary beads.

The old Ball jar had a flat glass lid with a rubber ring on the top and lid had a wire that fits in on top to hold the lid down.

Great sand scooper. Looks well made and sturdy. I’m laughing at how you pulled it out of the rocks, like the sword in the stone story. You had some good finds there. Happy weekend to you and family.

Congrats on the Seated quarter! Mystery 1 looks like a part of a necklace. Greek key design thimble. Your new scoop must be named ‘Excalibur’?

I wonder if you can use electrolysis to clean up that quarter? Great find. Wish I could go detect a beach that looks like a lot of fun.

  18. Mudhooks on June 7, 2023 at 9:47 am

Great finds, as usual. The quarter was a surprise!

Hi Matt, congratulations on going over 2,000 subscribers. Wow 1877 coin. Happy for you. I’m fine from Ida ‘s leftovers. I read some comments you did alright too. I don’t think I ever saw that much flooding in my lifetime in the northeast. So fast so quick. I pray for everyone who are suffering from Ida.🙏 That cross does look like wood. My great grandfather brought one with him from Italy in 1898. But, who knows how long he had it. Congratulations on the sponsorship CKG. Can’t wait to see what you build for the turtles. Cool. Have a great week. Happy Labor Day. Joyce🇺🇸

  21. Tinkerbell Blue on June 7, 2023 at 9:54 am

  22. Jenny Walborn on June 7, 2023 at 9:55 am

That area of that beach reminded me of the Thames! Very cool. Love any and all religious relics, especially jewelry, its my fav! Headed to some thrift/antique places soon to see what History I can find!

  23. impunitythebagpuss on June 7, 2023 at 9:59 am

The bottle you pulled beside the thimble looks like the glue bottles we used in school back in the 60s…it had a red rubber angled stopper with a slit for the glue to be squeezed out and spread. Great adventures again! Nice you got happy mail from that supplier! I could use that scoop in the catboxes! Love the long handle!

  24. john on June 7, 2023 at 10:00 am

Do you have any advice on how to find places to look for this stuff. It looks like old dumping areas near the ocean but there’s no info I can find in my area.

That’s great the gave you and you scoop because those are really nice

  29. Julie Pippin on June 7, 2023 at 10:04 am

The turtles act like they are starving and such a tiny tank for three turtles to move around in. They are stepping all over each other and not enough room for them all to get out of the nasty water.

  30. Dawn Naylor on June 7, 2023 at 10:05 am

I remember seeing those jars in my grandma basement

The last bottle you found might be a LePage’s glue bottle. Funny how some images bring you back in time. Can’t wait for a post storm video.

  35. TheHouse on June 7, 2023 at 10:14 am

Congrats on that seated Matt! One of my favs! You had a good mix of finds as usual. Have a great weekend and take care! 👍👍🙂🤝
