Over the past one hundred years, caches of gold coins from the nineteenth century have been found buried on the remote and eerie island of Adak. The entire pirate treasure, most of which has not been found, has an estimated value of $365 Million. Mayor Tom Spitler is assembling a team of experienced treasure hunters to search for the booty, which proves to be a trecherous task as Adak is littered with unexploded bombs left over from WWII. Luckily, the mayor himself happens to be specially trained in bomb removal – but will that be enough? They could get rich, but they might die trying.

around 22 minutes then you see next to the metal bar they use for a lever, there is a gold coin, next to the bar. How is that possible!? 🤔🤔
I watched the whole season and it all felt fake/staged.
I once was stationed on Adak in the Navy. I remember those buildings vividly. There was a McDonald’s, Baskin Robbins, movie theater, a gym even a club. We used to literally get dressed up to go there. My new barracks was right by it and the chow hall in building 11.
These shows are made to keep us interested. Some questions. Whatever happened to the two servicemen who found the cans of gold? What happened to the gold they found? Why do the treasure Hunters think Red Bluff Hill is a possibility when they know the military shaved it down? A story like a hundred plus cans of gold scattered through the island would not have died. That story would have stayed alive over the years and decades. With all the military traffic throughout the island I believe the military probably found remaining gold if there was any and kept it for themselves. As far as the two servicemen I would guess they also kept it for themselves.

I think either the gold is gone from the military digging OR they’re looking in the wrong place. I think the Gold might of sank with Dwargstof. I believe he came back after realizing the navy lost him OR that he never GOT OFF THE SHIP in the first place. Maybe he HID his ship in a cove until he felt it was clear, then when trying to leave his ship sank from the weather. The reason I think it sank with him is because if they’re saying he was ruthless I don’t see him leaving without the Gold. And if he did leave the Gold I’m sure he put it somewhere only he knew about the island because as they mentioned he poached around the island so he knew the island very well. Long story short they’re never gonna find the big stash.
😅🤷♂️ Even the title is a clickbait. Dwargstof wasn’t a pirate but only a seal poacher. These treasure hunters spend their time making hazard theories, risky assumptions without any methodology or scientific rigor. The doc is funny but don’t expect too much. It’s just the way the mayor has found to advertise his island, to bring in tourists and to have attention of the political authorities to help this community. And as such it is successful and so much the better for its community 👏

They didn’t find the gold coin! Looks like it was placed there since all season they came up empty. The coin looked way to shiny considering it was in dirt for a very long time. Plus they guys weren’t that excited that they found the gold coin and only found one coin per location in excellent condition. Good ending to season 1 for those looking forward to season 2 to see what they so call find. Lol
The military would have spent a lot of time checking that hill for any UXOs before moving that much dirt. I reckon they found it and it’s been kept a secret.
All show and tell, they found some coins but really do you think they would actually show you were they found it?? Just another show to keep you guessing

I lived on Adak from 86-89 while in the Navy. Nobody ever mentioned gold.
This show was more comedy than anything else.
They found more on Adak island in 8 episodes than what Oak Island found in 9 seasons but it seems the person that found the gold left a gold coin in the can for respect to the pirate that left it there
If theres gold. Netflix and the crew planted it there. That Adak town is depressing and useless. Was working there in 2014 for 5 months. There’s no gold. Mayor needs to move on. Stop trying to scam us for $$$$ gains for Netflix and you .Because that Adak island is living in the past. Trust me. You would’ve had all the Filipino people working out there looking all over that island for gold. And trust me. No tourist in their right mind is gonna go Adak Island to look for fake gold.

Worked there on Adak Island in 2014 for 5 months . No mention of any gold or pirate. The only rumor we heard was. The only Sheriff in town with the Cowboy hat. That’s where you can go and get your weed.😂😂 Filipinos working there would’ve start digging for gold all over that island before Netflix if true. Netflix needs to hire me for consulting first on that island before giving money to those scammers. Adak people don’t wear name brand clothes like Patagonia. I think all gold was removed from that Island and all that remains are stories and legends. I heard similar stories about tons of Imperial Japanese gold lying all over Andaman Islands, India from tourist guides.

I worked at that Adak Island in 2014 for 5 months. Lived in those rinky dink townhomes with 4 roommates. We all never heard of any gold period. The only rumor we heard was the only sheriff in town. With the cowboy hat that sold weed.😂 Mayor just trying to lure gullible tourist to that town. That town is wack. You feel like your at the end of the world there. Got to watch my Seahawks win the Super Bowl in that run down blue building. Used to be a bar back then. And your only 1 call away from having a Mexican bring you beer in a old run down car to your townhome for beer or liquor . 🍺
