Search for a Lost Gold Mine Worth $97.1 Million Dollars

We hiked for 2 days searching the mountains for a lost Gold mine that is worth $97.1 million dollars at today’s Gold prices. We almost gave up but eventually we found the shaft that leads to the mine and into the miles of secret tunnel’s that still have Gold in them. We pull some Gold out to show the World we found it.

Jeff, Please be sure to keep the padding between the rope and sharp edges of the rock or lagging as you’re lowering yourself over the edge then rappelling or jugging back up. I’m your video, watch how the rope pulled hard across the lagging as you dropped into the shaft. Need to control that a little more, caus climbing ropes cut easily when hauled tight and scraped across a knife edge. When developing rock routes, repel slings are arranged, 3 points minimum, always trying to keep the rope free from running over an edge and easy to pull through once your down on the ground. If the rope has to go over an edge, than very gently ease your weight over and control the downward force on the rope, trying to find the softest part of the edge to line the rope on as you slowly lower off. Many climbers have died from cut ropes while falling, the rope reefed over an edge or flake. Take your knife to the rope and see how easy it will cut. It is frightening thinking of the times.
I never got into mining, but your knowledge of the minerals, mining, hard work getting after it and sharing in your fun way is really cool!
All be safe, Just wanted to share back to you some safety from an old climber. Kindly, Hank

  19. cmcer1995 on October 3, 2022 at 9:12 am

Pretty sketchy down there, seems pretty high risk, not quiet like spelunking where there is less chance of a cave-in. Not like rappelling down a cliff in the mountains. Have you ever had a close call? Do you use your Geology degree for things besides prospecting? It obviously is very handy to have the knowledge for your channel and your teaching is spot on. Good video footage, made me squirm around while watching you dangle above the abyss while sitting on the couch eating my potato chips.

I was at Kokoweef some 30 years ago. I had heard the stories of the Spanish burning pits for trial melts, and I saw many of them with very old cutting marks on the wood in the area. There are a bunch of entrances but the Feds made the whole area protected. Mobius busted his butt out there for years. You probably found his adit.

  25. Belar 192 on October 3, 2022 at 9:18 am

Dude. The edge mat is important. It between the rope and the rock to prevent damage to the rope. Damage that could lead to a broken rope and a long fall. Safety first my guy! 0:30 – good 0:44 – not good

  26. Michael Vaughn on October 3, 2022 at 9:18 am

I would love to come help dig in those mines. As long as i get to keep some AU haha. Take a small pail down there on that slope fill er up and dump it on the other side of the timbers your digging out. Right over the top just dump it. OR, have some walkies and a guy up top with a winch and just bring it up one bucket at a time. Make a pile and you can also process that when your done.

  27. Jon Bowerman on October 3, 2022 at 9:19 am

40 some years ago I lived in a gold district in Colorado, it was pretty rich in its day. We used to pan the seasonal creek that ran thru town. In the dry season I’d takes a bucket or 2 up the hill to the house cause I’d collect rainwater for panning.
Always wanted to follow that stream uphill and find where it was washing down from. So one day I did, and I located what looked like Chinese diggings on the south side of the creek about halfway up the mountain. I found Alot of sulfide deposits but I was sure they were chasing a vein.
At the time I had No idea what to do with sulfides, and kept looking , hoping to find free gold. When I left that area, I’ve never been back. I’ve checked several resources and that dig doesnt show up on any of them. Might have been on to something and never knew it.
Part of the price of getting older and wiser so you can kick yourself for not knowing better.

  28. James Landers on October 3, 2022 at 9:19 am

It might have worked to wet it – slowly it would fill and cement around a couple of larger rocks. Just my thoughts. And don’t climb above it

  29. XRP SnotRocket on October 3, 2022 at 9:20 am

Need a vac truck lol or a trailer like they use for pot holin. I used to work for a company that did industrial maintenance and we used em inside power plants. We would sandblast the tubes in the boilers for inspections during outages and then wash all the grit and stuff down into the bottom of the boiler when we were done with the sandblasting and then use vac trucks with stand pipes to suck all the grit out. If you have loose material you can move a LOT of material real real quick. But man do they scream. Not sure how safe it would be and you dont wanna use one workin alone. Gotta have a vacuum breaker for emergencys in case you get a limb caught in the hose or anything lol. But man I tell ya it works good. Id recommend buyin a used truck to anybody with a real mine operation going on. Provide your own ventilation too. Suck air all the way from the entrance clear down to the end of the hose. Lol just gotta pay for diesel.
